Happy Dance! Happy Dance! Get it! Get it! Get it!

You know it's Sunday in my house when you hear In The Kitchen With David on my tv. I like waking up and letting this lovable giant tell me how much I need some Temp-tations cookware to cook one of the many recipes in one of the many cookbooks he also suggests I need. And of course the day isn't complete without David giving us a Happy Dance. What is a Happy Dance, you ask? This is a Happy Dance.

Now you have been filled in about the Happy Dance. You can't help but smile, and maybe be tempted to join in, when David does a Happy Dance. So if you haven't noticed, David is a foodie, so good food is going to give him glee and get him spinning. So yesterday, as I watched David get down, I began to wonder to myself, what would make me happy dance, and it hit me.

I love crafting, especially cute things and things for dolls. When I make something for my dolls that works and ends up looking good, especially if it's something I don't really know how to do well, I do my own version of a happy dance. I'm so excited and happy for what I've created. For example, a couple of years ago when I went crazy and made several Blythe Empire Waist dresses, I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. It wasn't until I did some research and found an amazing tutorial by Cris Shida. She shows you a way to do it that the original patterns doesn't follow. The tutorial is in Portuguese, but the pictures are so clear that you can fully understand what she's demonstrating, you could also translate the whole website if you wanted. I started churning these things out no sooner I figured things out. And with each one I finished, I felt a glee and happiness inside. It was something I could celebrate in private, but after seeing David and his 'I don't even care' mentality on people watching him do his Foodie Happy Dance, I thought, why can't I be happy and free to share my happy dance too. So I've decided to.
http://cris-shida.blogspot.com/2008/06/tutorial-empire-dress.html

I want to share the dolls and toys I've found. I want to share the things I make, no matter if they end up how they are suppose to look or they end up like Snuffles The Mighty Hedgedog, or they end up a complete disaster. I never want to stifle my happiness or my 'dance' again. So more crafty craziness to come, along with my finds and deals and dolls and toys and whatever else I have to share. Like I said, I want this blog to become more lifestyle and include a bit of everything I love.  So coming up in the next few posts are things I have bought over the past year. I got some amazing deals on dolls and a playset that I am still in shock that I got at the price I did. So be sure to stay tuned for that.

And on that note, I am off again my lovelies. I hope today has reached all of you well. Enjoy the day, even though it is Monday and you are having to get back to the grind. Remember to take some time for you today to play, craft, design, or just relax. And I will see you lovelies in the next blog post. Take care until then. Bye for now. :-)

Love always,
Mickey ♥

I did what?!?

Hey friends! Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. I've been trying to get organized, still in the process of it actually, but I am making progress. So those of you who have been following me for a longgggggg time know I've been trying to open a shop for a very long time now. YEARSSSSSS actually. Well, it looks like 2015 is going to be my year. I'm going to go into business with my mom, and maybe my sister, but either way this shop is opening this year. I was having issues trying to decide what I wanted to sell and what I wanted to do with my shop, but I've finally decided to go back to my original plan and sell handmade clothes for Blythe, which was my original plan yearsssss ago. I want to start with Blythe and like-size dolls and expand from there to other dolls, eventually doing face-ups of dolls, and then hopefully one day making my own doll. From there I'd like to build an empire to for dolls, toys, crafting in general, but first baby steps.

So now that I've figured out what the first step is, deciding on sewing for Blythe dolls, I need to start getting organized to officially open shop. I'm so disorganized right now, after the whole Christmas sewing thing I've let my craft area just sit in rambles. yep, almost three months of neglect. So it's time to get on track and back to it. I'm starting to focus on getting healthier so I can work harder on my shop and other ventures I am planning. But as my friend Kenny keeps reminding, hey Kenny, baby steps. So what I did today was my first baby step. I bought a doll. Eeeeeeeeeee!!!

I currently have an Ashton-Drake Galleries Blythe that sadly has the frizzy hair, a Blybe that is super cute but not the real thing, and I have now officially order an "almost" legit Blythe doll. She's technically made from Blythe parts, but not a doll that actually exists. Yes, I got a factory doll, but she was so beautiful I had to, and she was a decent price for a nude doll too. I know with factory dolls you aren't sure what you are getting, so I am going to be hopeful that she will be beautiful and will only need slight surface touch-ups if any. I don't want to think of names for her yet because she's two weeks off from being officially mine, but Poppy keeps popping into my mind. Here are the pictures I nabbed from the Ebay sale page. They only sold two others like her, so the odds of me seeing many people with my girl are slim. Have a look.

The hair is what caught my eye. I love this combination of pink, orange, and yellow. I love the dress she is wearing and will have to try to recreate it for her.  I'm just not sure on a name for her yet. But I really wanted her in case my main girl's hair proved to be a problem. I would reroot her my main girl, but she has a scalp that needs to be fully replaced, and I may do that in the future, but I want to keep her original. So I am just give her permanent buns on her head and just call it a day with her. Her hair kind of reminds me of mine with the frizz and I just feel like I shouldn't try to get rid of her hair just as I would not get rid of mine. So I will bun it up, make it cute, and keep on keeping on. My other girl's hair is fine, which is shocking for a cheap doll, and she will be in pictures as well. Then I have a Pullip my friend Xander bought for me, hi Xander, and I have a vintage Skipper that I rescued from the bottom of a thrift store doll random toy table that I plan to make into a boy Blythe one day, but for now I will use her to sell Blythe clothes as well, just need to finish rerooting her, she needs some tlc. I need to see about fixing her neck rips. Watch, I'll fix her up and can't bring myself to change her into a boy Blythe. *sigh* Oh well, it will be nice to promote Vintage Skipper clothes too.

So I have 5ish models, still need to get Skip ready to go and wait two weeks for my new girl, and need to bun my main girl's hair, and I'll be ready to go. I already know the theme I kind of want to stay around, but I won't force myself to stay in it, because I may change my mind what I want. I kind of want to go Mod and vintage with clothing, because I love that style of clothing, but I may want to change things up and do something lolita, so I will just keep things open on that.

So that means you can expect to see me here more posting. I hadn't been here much before because so many posts talked about my ex and would come up as suggestions when I would check to make sure my blog post posted properly for you guys to read. I didn't know if I could handle that and was really playing with the idea of deleting every post but my very first post on the blog so I'd still know when I created the blog. But then I decided against it. I've been in contact with my ex and it has helped me realize that he's just a crap person and will always be one and I am starting to become numb to his BS. So I am not going to destroy all the hard work I've done over the years because of him, I'm just going to move on. It's a part of my past and it's what made me what I am today. So I am ready to jump back in here and share what I've been up to. I want to share the things I made for Christmas, I want to share some things I've recently been working on, I want to share my plans and bounce ideas off of you, and I just really want to reconnect with you guys. So here's to trying again. This is the year of facing my fears and doing the things I've been wanting to do. So far so good, I can't wait to see what the rest of this year is going to bring. :-) I'll talk to you again soon friends, take care, bye for now.

I Need Something

So I didn't do that big return I was hoping for, mainly due to the fact that I have been licking my wounds in private due to my breakup. No, it didn't end well, and just a few minutes ago I found out the hard way I am still very much angry over the whole deal. So I've decided to really throw myself hard back into my doll and craft hobbies. I always wanted to open a shop and plan to do so this year around Spring. I want to make some more inventory, get a PO box, work on my shop logo, etc., etc. I also plan on starting two of my three Youtube channels soon also. I just need to focus on other things rather than what I have been.

Puchi Collective Empire Dress
So the business I want to start is a clothing, accessories, and some props kind of shop. A main focus on clothing and accessories. The only problem I am having is which doll to sew for. I don't really want to be exclusive. I want to try being able to sew different items for different kinds of dolls. Right now I am working on Blythe Empire dresses and I want to try to make them for Monster High as well. I need to alter the pattern some so it will fit Monster High snugly. The Blythe size is ok, but it's not really fitted or tailored for Monster High.

I adore Blythe and how small and cute they are with their bobble heads, and I think that's why I equally love Monster High dolls as well. So I decided choosing those two to sew for right now was fitting. I think this will help me relax some and move on. I want to try getting a Takara Blythe this year. I have an ADG Blythe and a Blybe doll, but I really want a Takara one. I also still hope to happen upon a Hasboro Blythe, or even if it's just a head of one I can get a body for cheap so no worries there. But that would be a grail doll for sure. I just really adore the sweetness of Blythe and want to expand my collection of them. And since I will be getting rid of a lot of dolls later this year after I post my photostory, which has to be changed greatly because one of the characters was based on someone I no longer want in the story, I won't have any need for most of the dolls I have and will probably sell them as lots on Ebay or maybe as a category in my online shop. Oh, I also need to show you all the new dolls I've gotten lately. I haven't done much with them, but that will change this year as well.

So those are my plans for now. I want to take pictures of the dresses I sewed a couple of years ago and compare them to the ones I will make now. Hopefully my new ones won't make the old ones look amazing. :-) And on that note I want to wish everyone a belated Happy New Year and I hope all of you have been having a great year so far. I need to catch up with everyone so badly, just need to get out of this funk, but I will be back in top form soon. This year is going to be awesome. I just know it. Bye for now lovelies.

Blythe Dresses On Etsy

Image From Free Digital Photos
So one of the things I want to start doing this year is promoting other doll peeps who I find interesting. I kind of feel like I am walking into mucky waters with this one because while I want to give notice to those people who I find interesting, I don't want to insult others by not mentioning them first, third, or even at all. So I will just put down the “cone of safety” on each of these posts. LOL! These posts are in no way to insult anyone, they are made to encourage purchasing of awesome dollie items I find and possibly help a handmade artist in the meanwhile. :-) And now that the cone of safety is on * insert cone of safety sliding sound here * let the awesomeness commence.

Puchi Collective

Puchi Collective
So I must have the worst luck when it comes to patterns, because I can never get them to print right or I can't figure out how to use them. So when I printed the Blythe Empiredress from Puchi Collective, I was bummed all my attempts to make one just didn't turn out.

Empire Dress Tutorial
It wasn't until I found Cris Shida's blog that I finally understood what I was doing wrong. It was the bodice and lining that was throwing me off, and once I sorted that out I was able to whip up several dresses with ease. Now that I am returning to sewing again, and Empire dresses are in my near future for sure, I will be falling back on Cris' tutorial. If you are having issues with the pattern, try looking at Cris' walk-through, I'm sure it will be that missing link you need.

Party Dress Tutorial
Now fair warning, the site is in Spanish I believe, there is another tutorial in English on “Oh StrumpetsAnd Blythe Too”, that is for the Party Dress pattern but it's the same concept, and I just found it recently but wanted to give notice to the person who actually taught me. However, if you prefer an English tutorial you can find it here and here, but Cris has put many pictures that show you clearly how to do it. So let me know if these tutorials helped you any. I know that I am very glad I can across Cris Shida's blog and now know how to successfully make that dress. :-)

Pick A Side Lady!!!

Warning, this is going to mostly be a sounding board post to get my thoughts out, so please don't mind my mindless chatter. LOL! So I was thinking about my doll collection and the many dolls in my collection, and something hit me. I've got a lot of dolls. LOL! More than when I was a child, which I think is the norm for most doll collectors. But when I look at other doll collectors I see they all have a preference of doll they stay around. If you like fashion dolls, you tend to have a lot of fashion dolls. If you like bjds, you tend to have a lot of bjds. I don't tend to see many people with a ton of different types of dolls in their collection. It's usually one type, or one scale size. Now that's not to say no one has varying dolls, but it just seems to me that most collectors “pick a side”. Me, on the other hand, I just can't seem to “pick one”. I like so many types of dolls and I just want to own as many as I can.

The Love of Blythe

So I don't know when it actually happened, but I've become obsessed with big-headed dolls. I don't know why, honestly, I just like the look of them. They are so odd looking, but so fun to play with. It's almost like their heads are big enough for hats with details and their bodies are small enough to pull of cute. So you mix the two together and you have the perfect odd and funny combination.

Flat-ironing doll hair.

So I’ve heard of flat-ironing doll hair before but I’d never attempted it.  But when I look at my poor Blythe doll I’m so tempted to try it now.  I went in search of tutorials on how to do it and I’ve found several.  I saw where one girl used a heat protectant on her doll’s hair, but since it’s not real hair I just think it would leave the doll hair to oily.  So I am going with the next tutorial I found by a gal named stephenswodadancer on Youtube.  She uses just plain water instead of any styling product while hot-ironing the hair and I like that idea a lot better.

Click on the picture above to be taken to her awesome tutorial on how to straighten doll hair.  This is being added to my doll projects for this year.

Ann Marie Before Pic

Here is Ann Marie in a picture from some time last year.  As you can see her ends are just ruined.  I am hoping flat-ironing will smooth it out again.  It the hair burns it’s ok because I plan on rooting a new scalp for her some day if it doesn’t work.  But I love this color hair and want to try to save it.  So here goes nothing.  I will be sure to update you when I attempt it.  Oh and the little one is Christmas Noel who has been so neglected as of late.  I’m still on the hunt for some elastic to string her.  I think it needs to be 3mm elastic but I have no idea where to find any.  Her current elastic just as to much spring to it.  I’d like a tighter hold, so until then she is in hiding.  Also she doesn’t have a wig that fits her still.  I need to see about selling the wigs I do have and use that money to get her a good one.  I have a size 4 and a size 5.  The 4 was suppose to be 4.5 but it was actually a 4, the store mislabeled which ticked me off.  But decided to keep it because I thought I’d get a doll that has a size 4 head and I love the wig.  So then I tried a size 5 thinking the one I thought was 4.5 was to small and yep it’s to big now.  And the person who made it sew it wrong. I might try undoing the sewing and making it work for her.  Not sure.  That wig I’m not so happy with how it was made.  Meh, but this got off track.  So yeah, flat-ironing doll hair, a newest project added to the mix.  Smile  Talk to you guys later.

Two videos of epic proportions!

Hey guys, so I wanted to make a quick post about two videos.  One I had been meaning to post about and one I just found today.

This first video I learned about on Melly Kay’s blog.  I wanted to repost it for those who may not know of read her blog.  It has a Blythe doll in a music video, and not only is that cool but the song and video are pretty cool too.  Take a look.

This next video I learned about through =3 on Youtube.  This is a cat fight of epicness.  I hope that they eventually quit and went their own ways, but this video is such an awesome capture of their fight.  Take a look.

So yeah, that’s about it all peeps.  I’m off.  I have a busy day tomorrow of catching up on emails, comments, and other such things that got pushed to the side due to Nano, sickness, oh yeah and researching what to make for freaking Thanksgiving.  That mess was hard.  But now it’s all said and done and for Thanksgiving I have decided to make it simple or cook wayyyy in advance.  Talk to you all tomorrow.

Melly Kay Customs

MY 1st custom GIVEAWAY! You have a chance to WIN this girl!!

Hey guys, I am back with another post.  I couldn’t sleep due to tummy issues so I thought I’d try to catch up on some blogs.  I stopped over at a blog I’ve just recently started reading and saw she was having a giveaway in her first interview on BlytheLife.  So I thought I’d take this mo’ to tell you guys about Melly Kay, her creations, her interview, and her giveaway.

Can we go somewhere??

I first learned about Melly Kay through a crafty blog, one of my other fave kind of blogs to read.  She was heavy into making miniature clay food.  If you click that link you will be take to a picture of clay peaches she made.  Just looking at them makes your mouth water at the thought of how good a peach would taste right at this minute.  Her clay foods don’t stop there either.  If you look at the whole set you will see a wide variety of foods from cakes to breads to even meat.

Eeeeee I just can't get enough of her

Around January of this year Melly Kay started customizing Blythe dolls with her unique sense of whimsy.  I love what she can do with some hair, pastels, color pencils, paint, and eye chips.  She creates a unique look with each doll she customizes.

I'll miss these girls!

The girls above are some recent commissions she’s done.  Aren’t they beautiful?  And each one so unique.  I am always in awe of Melly Kay’s work.  You can click on any picture to be taken to her interview to learn more about her and her love of Blythe.  If you are interested in seeing more of her work check out her Flickr account.  If you are interested in reading her main blog check out Cute Stew that is currently undergoing a blog change that is sure to very interesting.  Or you can check out her Blythe commissions blog at Melly Kay Customs where you will see plenty of Blythe eye-candy.

Now for something really exciting.  Remember the pretty girl at the top of the post?  Well, if you go read her interview you can enter a drawing to possibly win one of her latest creations.  I was so excited to see that Bellatrix Gamma Ray is up for grabs.  I seriously hope I win, but I know whoever gets her will treasure and be envied by all.  Smile  So head on over to BlytheLife and read Melly Kay’s interview.  You’ll get some more incite to who she is and you can enter to win Bellatrix!  What’s not to love about the whole thing?  Smile  Good luck…but not too much luck…I really want her for my own.  Winking smile  Ok, talk to you guys later.  Be good until next I post.  Oh and if you haven’t read the previous post, please do and take my poll.  You don’t even have to read the whole post to take the poll.  Thanks in advance.  Smile

Justin Bieber!

Ok, this post honestly will have nothing to do with Justin Bieber.  I just didn’t have a title for it.  I guess it should have been called The Bird and The Bee.  I bring you another one of their awesome music videos to brighten your morning, afternoon, or night depending on where you are right now while you read this.

Ok, so what is up today?  Much of nothing really.  Got on the scale and saw that the gluten-free rice cakes I’ve been loving on have caused me to retain water and have made me feel like I’m STARVINGGGGGG.  So I am going to have to do away with those I think because beforehand I wasn’t hungry and was losing weight.  Now?  Not so much.  Ugh!  Oh well, starting over tomorrow.  Last night I even broke down and had some DOTS, yep candy.  Starting over with that too I guess, or I may just have to allow myself that one vice.

I haven’t had some doll news on her in a while and I miss talking about dolls so I’m going to pop some on here now.  Smile

Coming Soon

Here’s Penelope modeling one of the 10 empire dresses I sewed up in the past week or so.  This dress was suppose to be done and posted in my shop by now, but it’s not done yet.  I want to add more too it and just haven’t found the energy to do so.  I need a burner placed under my butt to get me going.  Heheh, 100 pretend dollars to the person who can tell me what I am watching in the background.  Open-mouthed smile  Somehow I think I know who will figure it out.

Coming Soon

A slightly closer view of the dress.  The spots on the dress kind of make me think of dog bones for some reason.  The connected ones do anyway.  I want to name all my dresses, and some I’m thinking of calling this one “Spot” or “Sit Spot, sit.”  I’ve got 6 more empire dresses I need to sew but I need some fabric for it first and then I will be moving on to another kind of item to sew up.

Kimono

Here is a picture for a future post about some stuff I recently got.  I wanted to show off my poor Ann Marie that need some hair therapy.  I am going to have to give her a boiling water hair treatment over the course of several days and see if that will fix her hair.  If not then I will have to get her a new scalp and root it will saran hair or maybe mohair.  Hate the ADG Blythe hair, but I want to get one more of them because I love her pretty face.

Humm, anything else for this post?  Humm.  Oh, so my writing has been kind of suffering due to me preferring to game or do something else.  And it doesn’t help that I stay up into the butt crack of dawn and then sleep the day away.  Ughhhh!!!  I need to go out and get fabric but my stomach has been feeling like poo, but I really think it’s the rice cakes that have been making feel hungry all the time that’s doing it.  So I’m going to give them up for a couple of days and see.  I’m like a constant science experiment here.  LOL!  Ok, I have some more to talk about this post if getting long so I will make another post or two to talk about them.  Or maybe I should type them up and just have them scheduled over the course of the week.  Maybe I’ll do that.  I’ll think about it.  More later kids.

Littlest Pet Shop and Blythe 2

Hey all, while surfing the web today I was on the Plastic Paradise forum, which by the way if you didn’t read already it will be “closing”; but I will tell you more on that later, and on the forum I saw a post about the new LPS and Blythe sets coming out and learned some interesting stuff about it.

First of all there are 6 sets out right now instead of the 5 I originally posted about.  The 6th set is called Pinwheels and Daisies.  It’s also a very cute set.  Have a look below.

I also have close-ups of the 4 sets that I only have box pictures for.

Playfully Plaid

Fabulously Vintage

Cool Winter Cutie

Buttons and Bows

I love all the sets.  Oh I found out that the animal in Buttons and Bows is indeed a mouse.  Love that one even more.  So some other info I learned about these sets is that they were at first thought to be an America only release, but people from the UK and Australia have been finding them.  So your chance of getting these are pretty good.

I really wanted to get one of these sets for a few reasons I’ll explain in a bit.  I actually thought about eventually getting all these  sets and having the whole collection…that is until I read this forum post.  It seems that the Scooter doll I liked was number 15 where the other were 1-5.  So people started to investigate this and found out that there will be future releases.  It seems they are being marketed as stocking stuffers this year so a lot of these should be coming out this year.  I personally like the bear one, very cute.

via: Xtineta on Flickr

Now something else I learned about these sets is that they are the same size as Takara Petite Blythe.  Hasbro’s PBs have a ball-joint in their neck while Takara doesn’t.  The eyes on the Takara PBs are better looking and eyes close when you lay them down.  The Hasbro PBs eyes aren’t as nice.  The lashes are glued to the eyeballs and the eyeballs have a weird swirling to them while the Takara ones are more human looking.  Both Petite Blythes can share clothing and head pieces.  Hasbro's PBs have removable shoes while the Takara ones have painted on shoes, or it seems most of them do.  I believe some of them don’t, but don’t quote me on that as I’ve never seen one in person.  Be sure to click on the picture to go to it’s page and to check out the rest of the set with more comparison pictures of the two.

Now the reasons I’d like to get these dolls are one, they are cute and I was always curious about them, and two, the attempt to make clothing for them and eventually sell them.  It seems a lot of Takara PB owners want the Hasbro PBs for the clothing since it’s hard to find clothing for them.  So this shows there is a small niche market out there for them.  So I thought, with these gals becoming mainstream that it wouldn’t hurt to try making clothes for them for profit.  Just a little fyi for those of you out there considering getting one and who likes to sew.  People want quality cute clothes for their PBs and may pay out some to get them.  Now don’t go crazy charging 10 bucks for a little dress that took you a few minutes to slap together.  Try to be reasonable if you try it doing this and who knows maybe the small niche will grow.

People are wondering however if this means Blythe will be hitting the shelves again in 1/6th scale.  They are worried she will become mainstream.  I look at it this way, Takaras are still the coveted Blythe and Hasbro would just put out ADG quality Blythes that most collectors don’t like.  I’d buy them because I think they are cute and for the price it wouldn’t kill me if I experimented on them.  But I really doubt they will become mainstream like that.  They may try it in the future if these LPS deals take off, but for the most part I think they are just a new theme to the LPS collection and may be gone come next season.  Only time will tell.  I am kind of bummed I don’t have a little girl to buy some of the LPS sets for.  It would be so cute to share my love of collecting cute things and Blythe with her.  But knowing my luck my little girl will be into GI Joes instead.  LOL!  Oh well, it’s still collecting so I’m cool.  ;-)

Ok, so that’s really all I wanted to talk about in this post.  I need to head back to sewing.  I really need to change my needle I think.  My stitches look a little off.  Not sure if it’s because of me changing the stitches or what.  They are still secure, just looks off a bit.  Guess I need to play with the dials again.  Ok, talk to you all soon.  Bye for now.  :-)

Oh wait, I almost forgot, the owner of Plastic Paradise is getting out of the hobby so she is stepping down from PP.  She is leaving it up as kind of like an archive, but she has given the ownership of the “forum” to two of her mods.  They are in turn getting a new domain and will be opening a newly themed forum.  It will be more kings, queens, and knights related.  It is called Blythe Kingdom and I guess they are working on it now and we will be told when they are open for business.  I can’t remember the email to well but I believe that will be happening in November.  Don’t quote me on that though.  But I hear they are coming up with some great new ideas for us and the owner of PP will be a mod there so that’s pretty cool.  So if you are on PP or TIB I hope you make the move over to BK when it’s open.  :-)  Ok, now I’m seriously off.  Bye for now.  :-)

Blythe and Littlest Pet Shop, the perfect match.

Scooter

So have you guys heard about the cute Littlest Pet Shop sets that have come out that have Blythe dolls?  They are super cute.  Take a look.

Buckles And Bows
So one of the first ones I fell in love with was this one called Scooter.  It’s the most expensive out of the set and I don’t think that the retail stores have this one.  The Blythe is such a cuties and so is her cute pet.

Playfully Plaid
The next one I like is this cute one called Playfully Plaid with a horse.  I think the plaid outfit is so cute and I love the hair and eye combination.

Cold Winter Cute
The next cute one is this one called Cold Winter Cute.  The little pet is super cute and the Blythe is pretty with her cool blue eyes and brown hair.

Scooter 2
The next set I like is this one called Buckles and Bows with what looks like either a mouse or a hamster.  Either way it has the cute round ears.  Now before you get excited, those clothes are cardboard.  I know, bummer.  :-(  But still a cute set.

Fabulously Vintage
And the last cute set is this one called Fabulously Vintage.  The cute pet is a spider.  The Blythe is so prime and proper while still being super duper cute.

I have always wanted a petite Blythe and from what I read these Blythes are put on the first petite Blythe bodies.  The cool thing about these Blythes are they fit Polly Pocket plastic clothing which is also sometimes clothe and some free patterns exist online for them as they become more and more popular.  And now that they are popping up in stores their popularity show grow.  I think I want to get Scooter and Plaid the most.  But I think if it comes down to just getting one since I can’t really do much with them I would like Scooter.  I love her hair and her outfit and her pet so Scooter may have to come home if I can find her cheaper somewhere.  25 bucks just seems like a lot for such a small set.  Granted you do get  a lot more than the other sets, but not over 12 dollars worth of stuff.  If anything I could see 20 for the set but now 25.  So I hope Walmart or Target get the set.  She reminds me of Miss Retro Mama.  I wanted to have her so bad but couldn’t afford her at the time and now she’s gone up in price.  Having a mini Mama would work for now.  :-)

So what do you guys think?  Cute?  A must-have?  Let me know if you will be adding one or all of these beauties to your collection?  I’m off to go back to sewing.  I was letting some No-Sew dry.  Bye for now.

They must ship in a box of gold.

Ok, so I was just surfing the web and came across an auction on Ebay for a Toys R Us exclusive Stella Savannah Blythe doll, who seems to be of limited quantity, that has only an hour and some minutes left to her auction with a starting big quote of $.01.  I was like, why are there no bids with such a cool starting bid and only an hour to go.  Maybe they are waiting until the very end.  Well, I checked out the description and found out perhaps why the auction has no bids.  Check out the shipping.  This can’t be legal.  Maybe it is.  But it shouldn’t be.  And I think it’s very misleading of the seller, but it is up to the buyer to read everything in the description before buying.  But still.  Very naughty.  Oh well, just had to share with you all.  So what are you all up to tonight?

I did it!!!

Hey guys!  So I know I have not blogged in a couple of days.  I ultimately blame it on my tummy.  I so need to get my rear in gear and start losing this weight and stop acting like it will magically jump off my body.  I have faith that if I get the weight off my tummy that will help a lot of my problem, and I’m really also starting to wonder if I am allergic to gluten.  Hummm…

Anyway, so early I posted about how I was working on knitting gnome hats for Blythes.  But my first 3 attempts didn’t go so well.  I mean they are still cute but I was obviously doing something wrong.  Well I tried again today working on my 4th attempt while my sister and I watched “Easter Parade”, watch it it’s truly a kickass movie, and well this attempt started out awesome.  I worked on it some more just a little while ago and just finished it.  It’s PERFECT!!!  because of how they look and the rainbow color I kind of want to call them my Seussian Gnome Hats…as in Dr. Seuss.  They make me think of the cover of one of his books that has rainbow tunnels and little furry animals.  If I find it I will let you know.  But that’s what I think of when I look at my hats.  I will take pictures of all four hats later on today and post pictures of them.  Then I will take the other three apart and attempt to reknit them.  Woot!

Other than that I haven’t done much.  Watching some vlogs and reading some blogs by authors.  And basically trying to get my lazy butt back to my novel.  I should actually go to sleep since I am yawning but I feel so sick to my stomach.  I did a product review for a big name company and the item is in its “testing” stage.  Which means if the product is to spicey or too hot I got to tell them.  Guess what I got to tell them?  Yeah the stuff was hella hot for me and my mom but for my sister and dad it was perfect.  It’s funny, the two hot-heads of the family, me and my mom, can’t handle the spice but the two cool-heads of the family, my dad and sister, can handle it.  In fact, if it doesn’t make my sister’s not run and make her look completely miserable then it’s not hot enough.  *rolls eyes*  Must be nice to have such a young stomach.  Ok, so mine isn’t that old, but it sure feels like it.

But that’s about it.  Been having some storms and much needed rain because we will be in a full on draught again soon, and been reading more, and yeah.  If I can just add exercise and watching my diet I’d be in business.  Oh I also came up with a banner idea for my shop, which I embarrassingly admit, was the main reason I hadn’t don’t anything with it..  I wanted a banner that would make my shop name make sense.  Also I took some pictures for my return to photostories, but that will need some editing due to what it will be so yeah, I have that to work on.  A lot to do and my tummy doesn’t want to play nice.  :-(  So not fair.  I hate not being able to do all that I want to do because I feel sick and panicked over it.  Oh well, gotta push through and forward.

And before I close I just want to say rest in peace Garry Coleman.  I just feel so sorry about his passing and the way he passed.  May the healing begin for his wife, family, friends, and fans.  I loved “Different Strokes” as a kid and it’s sad that he is no longer with us.

Well I think I will go write for a while now and then see if my tummy is ready to hit the hey.  Damn product testing.  I will not test anything like that again.  I’ll ask the family to but I refuse to do it.  Tummy is burning.  Hate that so much.  Ok, a picture post to be posted soon. Bye for now.  :-)

*Taps* Is thing on???

Hey peeps and peepettes. I know it seems like forever since I posted here. My only excuse is I have been dealing with a nasty batch of the blues that I have not been able to pull out of. So I just sit on the computer collecting links to blogs and sites I want to revisit instead of organizing the ones I have and just overall becoming more evolved in online communities and in things I want to be doing right now. But I am slowly pulling my rear out of the hole I dug for myself and have called home for the past month or so. If I owe you a response to a comment, it's coming I promise. Sorry to the suckage at responding. The blues were strong with me this time.

Here lately I've been focusing on organization to make everything I want to do easier to do and easier to post about. I tried making several blogs but it just doesn't work for me. I like to have it all central on this blog, so I will be closing those other blogs and posting everything here again. I will be posting a bit of everything here, but I am sure it will all entertained. I was trying to keep this blog doll related, but it honestly does not work for me. I like to promote just one blog and when I finally get my shop open I just want one blog to link back to. So I will be closing my crafting and writing blog and bringing both on over here. I will be keeping writing posts to Wednesday and crafts will be worked in when I feel like it along with other random stuff, or I may make random stuff for weekends. Not sure, but in order for me not to get flustered it will be here somewhere. Humm, what else?

Been working on writing and crafting in my absence. Writing was going ok. I was working on revising my novel from 2008 and then it hit me that since it has been so long the story has changed for me and it's not Andrea's story. I've been reading my guilty pleasure lately...the Twilight series, don't judge me, and well it has me made me see the appeal of first person novels. I have also started reading "Along For The Ride" and it's also written in first person and it also backs up the first person appeal. Seems teens like to read in first person because it makes them relate to the character better or puts them in their place. So I will be trying it out and let you know how it goes. I might post excerpts of both versions here and ask you all to vote on it for me.

Along with writing I've also been reading a lot more. I try to squeeze in reading every day. I was reading a bike while I did 15-20 miles on my exercise bike...but I have not done that in a few days. Gotta get back to that. I need to find out who done it. I'm currently reading a Hannah Swensen Mystery. I was collecting these books and not reading them. I just thought the concept of a bakery and recipes mixed in was interesting. Then I cracked one open the other day and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. In all honesty there are some parts of it made me roll my eyes. Just a little overly dramatic but still pretty good. As for how I feel about Twilight, I will leave my final say to when I finish all 4 novels which should be in the next month or so since I just read a little a night before bed.

As for crafting, I have been working on some cross stitching again as well as trying to work on a gnome hat for Blythe dolls. So far I have three prototypes that have been worked out and I am not 100% happy with either of them so I am working on a 4th one. Once I get one the way I like it they will be for sale in my shop just in time for...summer. Humm, well I'm sure someone will want knitted gnome hats in the summer. Not all places are humid like NC. :-) I will be making a post about the hats and the cross stitching I've been doing as well. I still need to make a pdf file for the cross stitch pattern for my website. Oh speaking of my website I had a squee and happy moment a few minutes ago. :-)

Ok, so years...and I literally mean YEARS ago, I held a small summer camp for dolls and then posted about it on my website at the time. Well my site has changed a lot since then and so I have a new one but I had since lost my old site. I thought I had seen it somewhere so I went looking for it on old computer and floppy disks...yep floppies. Well I didn't find them there and I was just so sad about that and that did not help the blues. I wanted to put up my old stuff so readers of my stories can see where it all started from and hopefully to eventually see how my picture skills have improved. Well today while looking for my computer glasses, tinted glasses that help soothe the eye strain, I found my old cd roms that I put files on. I check one that said Michelle's Files and omg!!! My complete old website was there!!! I was freaking out. LOL! I felt all sentimental and happy at the same time. So I will be posting my old stories on my new website. I am wondering if I should post the old website as it is just for giggles. But it is pretty ancient. It also was one of my first image doctoring experiences with that sight. The Hollywood sign on it was doctored to say Dollywood. Very proud of it if I do say so myself. *polishes nails shirt* So expect to see my first meager toe-dipping into the world of photostories. Finding this persuades me to finally get off my ass and work on my next round of photostories. So yeah I have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks and I hope you will join me on hopefully an very interesting journey. :-) Ok, now that I've written a novel, getting good at that thankfully, I will close for now and update you more later on. Right now I'm off to write, work on website, and then return to Forks for 30 minutes or so. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :-)

What the hells?!?

Ok, so I was just looking at window that was open in Mozilla when I loaded up my past session, and what I saw shocked the hell out of me. Ok, so as you may have guessed, I am a fan of Blythe dolls. I have yet to have a Neo Blythe, but I have been looking at nude and "factory girl" Blythes to just start off with.

Well in looking at nude dolls I not only saw that the "factory girls"...which are bascially stolen Blythe doll pieces put together and sold online, were almost the price of some new releases. So I pasted on this, until I see a much lower priced one. Factory girls tend to have things wrong with them so I don't want to take that chance at spending money on a girl for her hair and learning the roots are bad and I have to reroot anyway. Might as well get a new release.

But what shocked me the most were the new actual Blythe dolls. Now the two in question are old releases that were limited. But these dolls come nude. Now before you say, well even nude limited releases can be expensive, wait until you see how expensive I am talking about. Here's an auction for a nude "Denizens of the Lake Eleanor" Blythe doll for roughly 1000 dollars. You get nothing but the nude doll where I found her completely dressed here for less. Now I also did find her completely dressed here for more. She was limited to a production of roughly 1000 dolls in 2008. Has the price of a two year old limited doll really risen that much that she'd be worth that much, or is someone price gauging? Yeah I think we all know what it is.

The next shocker here, although a little less pricey, is the "5th Anniversary Darling Diva" Blythe. A nude gall will cost you 900 dollars. And I found her dressed here and here for basically 1,200 dollars! In the famous words of Michelle Tanner, "No way, Jose!", seriously.

Another thing that shocked me about the dolls was the shipping. On the first nude doll, for a flat rate box, 99 dollars! Seriously, wtf? Just simple shipping and they can't tell you and guarantee when your girl will show up. For the second nude doll shipping was 59. I can understand that a tiny bit more, but not by much. The dressed dolls in their boxes I could understand it being almost 60 dollars. One of them though is 85 dollars and I really think that is a hair high.

But this all got me wondering. Am I just being cheap? Jealous because I can't afford to drop a thousand down on a nude doll to call her my very own? Granted, neither doll appealed to me, but if they had they would be so off limits to me it wouldn't be funny. Do people actually buy these dolls at these crazy prices? And is it really ok to expect this much for the doll and still expect crazy shipping. For those prices you can get a vintage Kenner Blythe instead that is a little more worth the price...ok I don't really believe that either. I guess I am just irritated that people make these prices so crazy, and they are usually not in the doll hobby but they know someone somewhere out there will pay their price to get what they want. And as long as people are paying these prices no one will bring their prices down. I mean seriously. Do you guys remember those Barbie Mary-Janes that came with certain dolls or in a Skipper shoe pack? Those used to fetch a pretty penny too. I once saw a pair go for almost 100 dollars because they were "VHTF". Ok, I get that, but come on, 100 dollars for a pair of Barbie shoes? Now I don't find that any more and the prices are a more reasonable 2 bucks or more, but back then those prices were crazy and just shameful of the people who posted those auctions.

But like I said, maybe I am just being cheap and bitter because I live a poor person's life as of late. Let me know what you think. Crazy auctions or crazy blogger? ;-) Talk to you guys soon.

Penelope

Sorry guys that I didn't get back to you like I said I would about my Blybe Penelope. RL happened and so I pulled away from the doll world for a bit. But I am back to give you what I promised. I decided to try something new and post a vlog for this entry about Penelope. I tried to make it as short as possible but I had a lot to say. One thing I didn't say in the video that I learned after I finished it is that Blybe heads wobble a tiny bit. It's not a firm hold like Blythe. Nothing really noticeable until you grab her head, but just thought I'd mention that in case that's an issue for anyone. But yeah, enjoy the video, and feel free to drop me a line about anything you are curious about.

Oh, also I will be getting back to comments this week. So super duper sorry I didn't do so before. Maybe I will make a vlog about that one too...maybe not. LOL! Here's the video.

This is a video review of my Blybe doll Penelope. I bought her through the Ebay seller siriporn.robertson: http://myworld.ebay.com/siriporn.robertson/. If you want to ask questions about Penelope please feel free to leave me questions on the blog post this video is in. You can reach my blog here: http://dashausdermaus.blogspot.com/.

If you are interested in a Blybe doll you can search Ebay for Blybe or you can use my seller: siriporn.robertson. I liked dealing with her and will do so again in the near future.

Well that's all I really wanted to post about in this one. I'll be trying to play catch up over the week while trying to balance out life in general. Fun times. LOL! Talk to you all soon, be good until then.

Guess what came in the mail today?

Well more like yesterday now, but still. :-) My Blybe is here finally all the way from Thailand!!! She's a pretty as a picture and not as low quality as I expected. I didn't really know what to expect when it was said she was a medium quality doll, but now I know. She's clearly not high quality but she's not dirt cheap either. I am taking some pictures of her today and tomorrow and I will post more about her tomorrow.

Oh and if I have not responded to your comments yet I will. I have just been dealing with RL issues at the moment and just haven't had time. I will do so and thank you all so much for the comments and please do keep them coming. :-) Love you all and will be back tomorrow with a post about Penelope. :-)
