So I don't know when it actually
happened, but I've become obsessed with big-headed dolls. I don't
know why, honestly, I just like the look of them. They are so odd
looking, but so fun to play with. It's almost like their heads are
big enough for hats with details and their bodies are small enough to
pull of cute. So you mix the two together and you have the perfect
odd and funny combination.
One of my favorite bobble-headed dolls
has to be Blythe. A lot of people say that Blythe is freaky with her
big changing eyes, but I think that adds to the fun of her. I've
never had an uncomfortable feeling with dolls really, except that
clown doll from Poltergeist. That sucker was freaky!!! It didn't help
that my mom told me he'd come out from under my bed and get me. Now
to be fair, I had found where my mattress on my bed had come apart
and I started ripping on it for some reason, and no matter how many
times my mom told me not to do it I kept doing it. So once she
learned I was afraid of that clown...well let's just say I stopped
pulling on mattress. LOL! And if you don't believe me that that thing
was evil, take a look below.
See, a seemingly normal doll right?
WRONG!!! That sucker is EVIL I tell
you!!! EVIL!!! * takes deep breath * Ok, sorry, I am ok now. *
shivers * Moving on.
Blythe has such a sweet face with a the
perfect body for making small and cute clothes for. And lucky for me,
I'm not the only one who feels this way. There are tons of Blythepatterns out there to have fun with, and I can't wait to continue on
my journey of sewing for Blythe so I can try out these differentpatterns. Blythe fashions are such a big pull for me. They can be
virtually anything, even though she has a “mature” body. Some
dolls look odd dressed cute because of their mature body, but Blythe
can pull off anything from little girl to mature female, and even
being male. I think it's because of the head that she can do this.
Because of the head she can easily pull off large patterns on her
clothes as well. It's very interesting how she can do it. Take a look
at the variety of ways Blythe can be dressed to represent different
personalities.
And this is just regular size Blythe
dolls, Middies and Petites have their own uniqueness that is super
cute as well.
I'd like to one day have one of each
size of Blythe. They are just super cute, and honestly if I had to
choose only one doll to own it would be Blythe, and it may one day
turn to me only owning Blythe dolls, only time will tell. I'd like to get
more into Blythe and learn how to customize her and make her my own.
I currently only own two dolls, one being a super cute clone while
the other is an Ashton-Drake Blythe. I will be eventually growing my
collection as these two have sealed the deal for me that I love
Blythe. I can't wait to have several girls, and I'd like to make a
boy one day with a vintage Skipper body I have. For now I sew for the
two girls I do have, and will sew for the vintage Skipper body as
some people have made boy dolls this way and I may try seeing if
there is a market for boy clothes for Blythe dolls. I'll have to
update you on that when I find out.
And that's about it for this post. I
just wanted to pause and talk a bit about this wonderful gal.If you'd
like to learn more about Blythe I'd suggest stopping by forums such
as “This Is Blythe”, “Plastic Paradise”,and “Blythe Kingdom”
to get started. Like I said, I know a lot of people don't like her
big head, but I am a fan of big-headed dolls. There is just something
about them that is so interesting. I'll be sure to start sharing some
pictures of my two girls real soon. Until then, I am off. Talk to you
lovelies later. Bye for now.
