Marie Clayton rocks my socks!

Warning, this post will link you to pictures that, while they do have Barbie dolls in them, are so far from work or kid safe you wouldn’t believe it.  She is an artist that tells a story through her art.  Below is one of her tamer pictures.

Interested to see her “other” stuff?  Check it out here, but go at your own risk.   Remember, you have been warned.  Winking smile  Enjoy.

Come check out my pad!

Early beginnings.

Hey guys, I’m still taking a break on blogging here, but I wanted to invite you all over to my “pad”.  A while ago I deleted my craft blog “The Mouse Pad”, but decided I needed a place just to blog about crafting, so I brought it back from the dead.  If you were following me there, deleting the blog deleted my followers, I’d love for you to re-follow me again.  Sorry about that, I didn’t think I was going to use the blog but now I see that I will.  I will probably be using it more than my doll blog for a while as I work through my stomach problem.  A choice has been made, I’m going to a doctor.  Not sure when, but I am of course terrified of going there and being short of breath the whole time, of what they will have to do to me to find out what’s wrong, what they will find wrong, and how they will have to treat it.  I’m so scared it’s really bad, so I’ve been throwing myself into crafting and I will be sharing it on my craft blog so please feel free to pop over and join me there.  Thanks in advance for anyone who pops over.  I’ll be back here blogging again soon, so don’t give up on my “house”.  Talk to you all later, bye for now.  Smile

Hiatus.

Yep, it’s that time again folks.  I did good for 15 days, but I really need a hiatus from blogging for a bit, which honestly makes me so sad.  I wanted to try blogging every day this year but I really can’t.  It’s hard to come up with new things doll related to blog about when you aren’t creating anything yourself to share with the world.  And I really can’t get creative right now, not that I have the drive to do it right now either.  I really need to focus on my health right now.  I need to figure out how to get to a doctor and try to get my life back.  I can’t move forward with any of my plans because I’m sick in bed most of the day and it worries me and everyone around me.  I’m barely eating, and I don’t really care, but I guess the body kind of needs food to live.  I feel really bad just taking off like this, but I can’t be a better blogger or member of the community until I feel good internally.  I’ll be back guys, I promise.  I’ve still got big plans for this year to share with you all.  But in order to do them I need to be able to get out of bed for longer than a few minutes without feeling horrid.  So wish me luck on that and I will be back soon.  Hugs to you all.  Be good until I get back ok.  Winking smile  Bye for now.

Funny or Die Presents sorta not really review.

So I just got done watching FOD and I didn’t pay attention to any of the skits but the one Smidge Girl’s furniture is in.  I will warn you now this show is bloody and not for the weak of tummy.  Winking smile  But I loved seeing how they worked her furniture into the skit and it was interesting to see how all the other sets were made.  I won’t say much since some of you have yet to watch it but just check out the sets and you will see some familiar stuff you would never have thought to use.  Smile  And I had a fangirl moment when I saw Smidge’s name in the credits.  That was so awesome.  Congrats Smidge on all your hard work!  Smile

Funny or Die Presents tonight!!!

{source}

Hey guys, Funny or Die Presents is coming on tonight, in a little over an hour for us East Coast peeps, so be sure to turn the tv on or set your TiVos for it.  I can’t wait to see it.  Well not the show, but the bit with Smidge Girl’s awesome furniture, and well a skit done in 1/6th always has my attention too.  Winking smile So be there guys.  Smile  I’m so excited for Smidge!  Open-mouthed smile  Can ya tell?  LOL!  Oh and Smidge I hope it’s ok I borrowed your picture.  I thought it fit perfect for this post.  Don’t kill me.  *ducks and hides*

Ok, I’m off for tonight.  Oh, just updating, knock on wood, the Prilosec is working I think.  I’ll know in a couple of more days but today’s dose has me feeling pretty good.  Still nervous to say I feel better.  And very worried what I’ll do when the two weeks are up, but I won’t worry about that for now.  For now I will just focus on how I feel and looking forward to hopefully a healthy future until I’m old and grey and you would expect your health to start going back.  Fingers crossed tight.  Ok.  Gonna go practice my crochet for a while and then finally work on some comments, yep didn’t do it yet.  Sorry.  Embarrassed smile  I will work on them.  Bye for now guys.  Smile

Another day another doll…dress? *Warning, Doll Nipples Ahead!*

Hello my lovelies, how are you all doing today?  Me?  A hair better, but still dealing with acid that refuses to give me any kind of peace.  I’m hoping a does of Prilosec OTC will conquer this dragon of a beast finally.  Fingers crossed tight for me people please.  I reallyyyy need this to work.
But since I’m still not feeling well, this still leave me with nothing to really blog about today.  No projects have been started yet.  My shop still remains empty.  No interesting doll pictures have been taken.  Nothing people.  Sad smile  Sorry.  I so like being an entertaining hostess, but I just can’t force myself to do it right now.  And I so want to feel better very soon so I can sit up long enough to watch some tv.  Smidge Girl’s furniture is going to be on tv Friday!!!  And this girl has got to see it.  Been looking forward to that, so yes I have to feel better.  Smile
But then that leads me to today.  What do I talk about in this post?  I do know!!!  Hummm.  Oh well, here’s a question for you.  Look at the picture below.
Am I the only one that noticed the doll dress first before seeing the rest of the picture?  LOL!  Then I noticed the dress behind it which I love the color on and wish I could see more of.  But yeah, I was just wondering if I was the only weird one out there.  LOL!
Hummm, well I guess that is it for my weirdness today.  I’m going to close now and leave you with this interesting stop motion video of to Cy Girls fighting it out.  Warning there are enhanced doll boobies at the end of the video, so don’t view at work or in front of kids if you are worried about someone seeing some doll nip.  Enjoy.
Talk to you crazy cats later.

Hey guys.

I’m not even going to fake that I feel good.  I don’t.  I ate a larger amount of food today that I have in the past couple of weeks, and trust me that isn’t much, and it has my stomach burning.  So I am really not in the blogging mood today but I still wanted to blog.  So I decided to find you some entertainment from the Tube.  Enjoy this cute little story.

Talk to you all later.

Sorry guys, the next post will be more interesting, promise.  I just don’t feel good today.  The weather is blah also, yes Sarah I agree, and so I’ve decided to just take it easy today.  I am looking forward to Spring, I need some color to look at.  I don’t mind it being cold but it’s so bleak in the Winter and I need my spirits lifted up.  Meh, tomorrow is another day right?  Thumbs up   Bye for now guys.

Flat-ironing doll hair.

So I’ve heard of flat-ironing doll hair before but I’d never attempted it.  But when I look at my poor Blythe doll I’m so tempted to try it now.  I went in search of tutorials on how to do it and I’ve found several.  I saw where one girl used a heat protectant on her doll’s hair, but since it’s not real hair I just think it would leave the doll hair to oily.  So I am going with the next tutorial I found by a gal named stephenswodadancer on Youtube.  She uses just plain water instead of any styling product while hot-ironing the hair and I like that idea a lot better.

Click on the picture above to be taken to her awesome tutorial on how to straighten doll hair.  This is being added to my doll projects for this year.

Ann Marie Before Pic

Here is Ann Marie in a picture from some time last year.  As you can see her ends are just ruined.  I am hoping flat-ironing will smooth it out again.  It the hair burns it’s ok because I plan on rooting a new scalp for her some day if it doesn’t work.  But I love this color hair and want to try to save it.  So here goes nothing.  I will be sure to update you when I attempt it.  Oh and the little one is Christmas Noel who has been so neglected as of late.  I’m still on the hunt for some elastic to string her.  I think it needs to be 3mm elastic but I have no idea where to find any.  Her current elastic just as to much spring to it.  I’d like a tighter hold, so until then she is in hiding.  Also she doesn’t have a wig that fits her still.  I need to see about selling the wigs I do have and use that money to get her a good one.  I have a size 4 and a size 5.  The 4 was suppose to be 4.5 but it was actually a 4, the store mislabeled which ticked me off.  But decided to keep it because I thought I’d get a doll that has a size 4 head and I love the wig.  So then I tried a size 5 thinking the one I thought was 4.5 was to small and yep it’s to big now.  And the person who made it sew it wrong. I might try undoing the sewing and making it work for her.  Not sure.  That wig I’m not so happy with how it was made.  Meh, but this got off track.  So yeah, flat-ironing doll hair, a newest project added to the mix.  Smile  Talk to you guys later.

I hate snarky doll people!!!

{source}

*Steps delicately onto her soapbox.*  So I know it makes all kinds of people to make the world go round, but I have seriously had my fill of snarky doll people.  It’s one thing to be snarky, but to be snarky over a hunk of plastic that can break if you sneeze wrong at it, are not necessarily better quality than the next doll, or it isn’t even your own doll, it just freaking blows my mind!  So let me explain about this little rant.

I was on Youtube and watched a doll video on there from someone I subbed to.  Now this person happens to be a young girl between 12-14 and she is a doll collector and she seems to be well off because her parents buy her a ton of Pullip dolls and whatnot.  She knows a lot of about Pullip dolls and takes care of her dolls.  Well in the side videos on the page her video was playing I saw a video with a playset I own so I decided to look at it.  It was a silly video of a young girl playing with Pullip dolls and someone, I’m assuming her mom, was filming her play with them.  You wouldn’t believe how many people attacked this video calling it dumb and being angry at the parents for letting her play with Pullips like they are Barbies.  Now I don’t care how expensive a doll is, 1) she was a young girl who might read the comments and be really hurt by then, and 2) it’s a freaking doll and it was her doll.  So why is it any of their business how she plays with them.  If she breaks it its not taking any money out of their pocket.  It doesn’t bring down the value of their doll.  So why should they give a rat’s behind about it?  It won’t make the company stop producing the dolls.  If anything it will make them produce more dolls because they will need to replace some broken dolls out there.

I don’t know why I am so angry about this.  I guess it’s just we are a freaking community here and we all are in it for the same thing, the dolls and to share our love of dolls.  Why attack each other.  I mean they even debated on if the family could afford the dolls and basically said they are not well off so why let her play with expensive dolls?  It just angers me so much. I know, we are not all equal in the doll community and it reflects community in general, but damn it ticks me off.  Just hate judgmental people.  If people want to buy dolls and let them live on a shelf collecting dust well then that’s on them.  There is no reason to attack people who choose to enjoy their dolls.  Ugh!  Ok, I’m fine.  I just needed to rant.  *Delicately steps off her soapbox.*

Thanks for reading my hot-headedness guys.  Smile  I’m back to happy posts as usual next time.  Smile  Bye for now.

Projects anyone?

So I’ve been trying to think of a way to kick start my year, and it hit me that I should try to strive to do monthly projects.  Just something to help get the creative juices flowing.  So I’ve come up with several projects I’d like to attempt.  I know they won’t all be done this month, but I have them ready to go for future months.  Here are some of the projects I want to work on.

Before and After

So today I was hunting around the interwebs and found a Flickr group that took items that were either disliked or destined for the dump and changed it into something beautiful.  It got me to thinking about dolls and how some crafty people in the community can take a doll that is either disliked or is destined for the dump and make it into something beautiful.  I decided to hunt down some pictures of those dolls and share them here with you.  Have a look.

I don’t know if I want to share the fun after all.

Last one for the road kiddies, I swear. When I was looking for the proper embed code for the Barbie Dream House I remembered seeing an ad video for the 2006 Barbie Dream House and wanted to go back and look at it.  When I watched this video at first I thought it was a cute little sing-song ad.  That is until after Barbie got the girls into the house and went upstairs for a minute.  Have a look to see if you caught what I caught.

So like I said, it starts off all sing-song about sharing with Barbie.  Let’s share some fun, some music, some magic, oh and we can’t forget to share the laughs.  But after we share the laughs it gets a bit weird.  The sing-song turned very serious when we were suddenly “sharing the fun” in the bathroom.  Umm, what?  What the heck does flushing a toilet have to do with fun?!?  Umm I don’t know about you, but I am so not interested in sharing the fun with anyone when they are using the bathroom, nor during pre or post bathroom use time.  Then after this it gradually gets worse.  Now we are sharing in cleaning up the bathroom.  Then we are sharing doing Barbie’s laundry.  Then we see Barbie walk by all innocent, but at the end we see her poor friends looking out the door right before it is slammed in their faces.  By this time the sing-song has gotten eerily creepy and I was no longer interested in the 2006 Barbie Dream House.  LOL!  Ok, in all honesty I never was interested in the 2006 Barbie Dream House, but I was curious about the ad, and I’m so glad I went back to look at it.  Ok, come on, is that ad not creepy?  Maybe the kids didn’t see that and thought the bathroom scene was funny, but it just weirded me out.  LOL!  I don’t think I’m going over to Barbie’s house any time soon.  Smile

Ok, now I’m seriously off.  Research awaits me.  Bye for now guys.

USB People

Have you guys heard about the USB People?  They are flash drives that look like little people.  They kind of make me think of Lego or Playmobil people.  Have a look at this odd video about them under the cut.

A Barbie reproduction I’d like to see.

So today I was thinking about all the reproduction Barbie dolls Mattel has been putting out and I began to think about what kind of reproduction I’d  like to see done.  I thought about all the Barbie dolls out there and couldn’t find out I really wanted to be reproduced.  But then I began to think “outside of the box”.  What if Mattel reproduced items they made for Barbie instead of the actual Barbie?

Now I know that Mattel has spit out Ferrari after Ferrari for the gal as well as house after house for her, but I’m talking about originals.  I want reproductions of the original first releases of such items.  One item in particular is the very first Barbie Dream House.  Smile

Dollywood Productions Photostory update!

Hey guys!  So I’ve finally got the first new chapter in the Dollywood Productions story line.  I’m really looking forward to working on this story again.  It’s been years since I last worked on Camp Celeb and now I feel I will finally be able to tell my story and finish it.  I’d like to finish it in a couple of months, fingers crossed.  Smile

Photostory Teaser

Click on the picture above to be taken to the new story and enjoy.  SmileOther stories have been worked on and those that were not visible last time are now visible.  I figured out what I did wrong.  I need to work on all the bio sections but that will come with time.  Well, enjoy the story and talk to you all later.  Smile

Fleas.

So today I was wondering what I should talk about and then it hit me.  What was my very first doll?  Well to the best of my knowledge my very first doll was one my mom saw in a Sears catalog while we were living in Germany due to my dad being in the military and stationed there for a few years.  She saw this doll and had to have her for me.  So she ordered her all the way from the States to have sent to Germany.

Top 11 Controversial Dolls

Ok, so a lot of us know about some of the dolls out there that just didn’t cut it.  Happy Family Midge anyone?  But on doing a search for controversial dolls today I found that there were a lot of dolls out there that were pulled from the shelves that I had no idea about.  So I’m going to share a few of the dolls with you that were on that list.  Feel free to check out the website to see what other dolls were on the list.

Big dolls wanna have fun too.

So when we think of photostories we tend to think along the lines of 1/6th or smaller or similar scale.  Larger scales are seldom thought of, in my personal observations, when it comes to really involved photostories.  In photostories with larger dolls they tend to be in the “real world” because building sets for them to “play” seems to be costly and time consuming.  I found out today this is so not the case.

Alice in Wonderland Liv dolls and Liv doll boy.

So I’m sure a lot of you know this by now, but this year the Liv dolls will be coming out with an Alice in Wonderland line and a Liv doll boy.  All are slowly coming out in stores, I’ve heard Target is the place to start looking.  Well I recently found a video on Youtube by a young girl who talks about the dolls and shows pictures of them.  The video drags on a bit but the pictures are worth the watch.  Have a look.

Ok, so what do you think of the new dolls coming out?  I personally want them all, but when I stop and think about it, it’s for their clothing and not really the dolls themselves, except for the boy.  I like the boy.  I wish the hair would have been a wig as well.  But that’s still possible if you remove the hair and then just take the peg out of wigs you make for them and maybe just use some hook and  loop tape to keep them on.  So what’s your view on them?
