I Need Something

So I didn't do that big return I was hoping for, mainly due to the fact that I have been licking my wounds in private due to my breakup. No, it didn't end well, and just a few minutes ago I found out the hard way I am still very much angry over the whole deal. So I've decided to really throw myself hard back into my doll and craft hobbies. I always wanted to open a shop and plan to do so this year around Spring. I want to make some more inventory, get a PO box, work on my shop logo, etc., etc. I also plan on starting two of my three Youtube channels soon also. I just need to focus on other things rather than what I have been.

Puchi Collective Empire Dress
So the business I want to start is a clothing, accessories, and some props kind of shop. A main focus on clothing and accessories. The only problem I am having is which doll to sew for. I don't really want to be exclusive. I want to try being able to sew different items for different kinds of dolls. Right now I am working on Blythe Empire dresses and I want to try to make them for Monster High as well. I need to alter the pattern some so it will fit Monster High snugly. The Blythe size is ok, but it's not really fitted or tailored for Monster High.

I adore Blythe and how small and cute they are with their bobble heads, and I think that's why I equally love Monster High dolls as well. So I decided choosing those two to sew for right now was fitting. I think this will help me relax some and move on. I want to try getting a Takara Blythe this year. I have an ADG Blythe and a Blybe doll, but I really want a Takara one. I also still hope to happen upon a Hasboro Blythe, or even if it's just a head of one I can get a body for cheap so no worries there. But that would be a grail doll for sure. I just really adore the sweetness of Blythe and want to expand my collection of them. And since I will be getting rid of a lot of dolls later this year after I post my photostory, which has to be changed greatly because one of the characters was based on someone I no longer want in the story, I won't have any need for most of the dolls I have and will probably sell them as lots on Ebay or maybe as a category in my online shop. Oh, I also need to show you all the new dolls I've gotten lately. I haven't done much with them, but that will change this year as well.

So those are my plans for now. I want to take pictures of the dresses I sewed a couple of years ago and compare them to the ones I will make now. Hopefully my new ones won't make the old ones look amazing. :-) And on that note I want to wish everyone a belated Happy New Year and I hope all of you have been having a great year so far. I need to catch up with everyone so badly, just need to get out of this funk, but I will be back in top form soon. This year is going to be awesome. I just know it. Bye for now lovelies.

I Can't Wait For Midnight January 1st 2014

Image From Free Digital Photos
Happy holidays ladies and gents, it has been a while. I have just been dealing with life. I almost said living life, but that's not the honest truth. Dealing with it is a much better way to explain things. I ended the year roughly 175 pounds less in the form of an ex-boyfriend that I am now very glad I am done with. I've had some time to think about what all has happened in the past couple of days, weeks, months, years, and I realize I did the right thing in letting him go. But that leaves me at a confusing crossroads as to what I want to do with my life and how I see the hobbies he judged me for. It took me some time, but I've decided to say "Forget him", and return to things I love, dolls being the main thing I want to return to.

So now that I've decided to return to dolls, what will I be doing? I've been brainstorming some plans, and I will be starting on them in January. I don't really want to say what they are now, so if they blow up in my face and I fail miserably, I'll be the only one to know and can just move on to plan B instead of embarrassingly admitting defeat publicly. LOL! The one thing I can tell you I am working on now is sewing. I really do want to start selling clothes for dolls this coming year. I love fashion and I have so many ideas for doll clothes.

I've collected some dolls to sew for and I plan to collect more, and I'm excited to try this venture. It's just I'm also nervous about it. What if no one likes my stuff? What if running a business is too hard? What if...well I don't know, what if something else goes wrong? But life is full of risks and I need to take more. I saw I took a big one trusting my heart to one of the nastiest people I have ever met, I literally though I would die from the pain he caused me, but I'm bouncing back and I made it through the worst. A business mishap or two, I think I can handle after what I went through with him. So I am putting on my big girl panties finally and charging forward towards this new venture. So super nervous. :-)

I've got so many things swimming around in my brain that I want to complete next year, I almost don't know where to start. I have given myself until New Year's Day to deal with the aftermath of my "175 pounds weight loss" and then I told myself it's time to stop mourning and move on. So yeah, there's one plan at least, the rest, I need to schedule out I think. I am a list person, so I need to make lists. Don't be surprised if some lists pop up here every now and again, I do well thinking out loud. ;-)

Wow, I've missed blogging so much but I feel like I've lost my blogging mojo. I know I will get it back over time, I just feel kind of odd now. I almost feel like I'm in a strange place. Time will change that. I will be back to regular blogging again in 2014. I want to say I'll blog everyday, and I guess technically I could, but I think it'd be pretty boring. I don't know. We'll see. I won't hold myself to it, if I do blog every day great, if I don't, no big. And this looks like a great place to close for now. I don't know if I will be back before the new year, so in case I don't get back I want to wish all my readers a very safe and happy New Year. Have fun, be merry, and get ready for 2014, it's going to be awesome. :-) Bye for now all.

Happy New Year My Lovelies!!!

I trust that you celebrated in fine fashion last night. Me? I celebrated with family and on the phone with my nearest and dearest. Next New Year's Eve I plan to do something a little more fun, but I got to have another New Year's Eve with my family, and to me that was enough. I could have had a much different night. So now that we are past that milestone, we have several more things to look forward to here. In four days my mom celebrates her...21st birthday...yeah her 21st. :-D Then exactly a month later my celebrates his 27th birthday. ;-) Two months later it's my sister's turn. So we have a lot to look forward to during the beginning of this year.

On top of all that, I will be focusing on my health again, seems I may seriously have an issue with gluten after some testing I've done, fine when I eat oatmeal sick as a dog when I eat bread, so I am attempting to go zero gluten again starting tomorrow. Wish me luck. I'll be getting back into sewing and crafting for dolls again after a few years of doing nothing. I need to take pictures of what I sewed a few years back. Oh yeah, and umm Christmas presents, yeah that didn't happen...yes again. But I didn't give up on it. Just the room I sew in is a complete mess. But I am going to hop in there tomorrow and start working on it. I have so much stuff to sort through.  I may need to cut some of my yardage fabric in half and see about selling some so I can get new fabric and free up space for new fabric.

I also want see about selling certain doll things I no longer need. Do any of you think there is a market for old Barbie Bazaar magazines? I have a good stack of them, and I thought about selling them for  a few bucks. I don't know. I'll have to think about it. I also have old Haute Doll magazines, but I will be taking the patterns out of them so I don't see the point of selling those then. Someone still might want them but who knows.

What else? Oh yeah, a friend of mine did the sweetest thing and bought me a ball-joint doll. A Resinsoul Rong in white skin. She's super pretty and she is my learning curve on bjds. So far I am pleasantly confused, frustrated, and intrigued. I'll be introducing her here soon. I have to get her some things and sew her an outfit, but she is coming.

Speaking of sewing, I've been collecting ideas of what I'd like to attempt to sew. I also still want to open a shop, I already have the shop registered with a new name and all it needs now is inventory. I had two shops before, but something about them just didn't feel right. Then the other day I saw someone's shop name it just clicked for me why my shop name wasn't working for me. Now it's perfect for me and I just love it.

Also, I have been trying to find my niche and I finally found it. Now I just have to work on sewing some items for it. Shop will be coming very soon. I never opened it before because of the need to go ship items on time and with my stomach I've barely been able to leave the house. I'm hoping gluten free will help it feel better and allow me to leave more often so I can get a shipping schedule. But I will tell you more about the shop as I get closer to opening. I will be sewing for all kinds of dolls.  One item I would love to sew is a pretty and fancy coat that fits into my nice. I think Midori, my Rong, will be guinea pig for that. To see the coat I am interested in sewing, look at 3:37 of the new music video (I Got A Boy) by Girl's Generation.

I love the look of this coat. I love the double row of buttons and high-waist belt. I love the colors picked out but I think mine might have to be more pastel for my niche. Not sure. Still researching that. But I think this would work better on a bigger doll, when speaking of details, but if I work out a pattern I will make them for all sizes.

I really doubted my ability to sew and well do much of anything until recently after seeing my sewing after not looking at it for years and seeing my article writing getting recognition when I was just doing it for fun really. So I have a new sense of belief in myself and can't wait to start attacking projects I only thought were a dream. I can't wait to share them all here, on my craft blog, and on my Tumblr blog. Still trying to decide what blogs I need to close. One I will be closing is my writing blog as I have a Tumblr blog for writing that I think will be more fun for me. I am debating on my craft blog as I may start sharing crafts here instead. I have a doll/craft blog Tumblr, I've set up a doll/craft Youtube channel, so I think I should just close the other blog and put it all here. Still deciding, but I will make a final decision in the coming days. This year is all about organizing and cutting back some. I can't have fun if I am all over the place trying to build an audience. I should have taken notes by the greats like Smidge, Dorrie, Aubrey, CorsetKitten...speaking of which.

I am so behind on blog reading. Like really behind. And I want to catch up on all of you. So I will be taking a person or two a month to catch up on. By the end of the year I should be caught up with a lot of you. :-) I don't want to just pick up where you are now, I want to see how you've been doing in the past months/year. I haven't forgotten about you lovelies, just haven't felt much like I was a part of the community with nothing to share. Now I feel I can share again, so woot, and can't wait to see what you have all been up to. I am starting my first person of the year tonight and I believe I will be caught up on them in a few days. So thankful some of you are like me and blog sporadically. But I love those of you who blog every day as well, makes me feel like I know you even better. :-)

Ok, long post is longgggggg. I am going to close for now. I need to go exercise and start my first article of the year and start working on my shop layout, and deciding on my which blogs to close, and...well you get the point. I will talk to you lovelies later. Be good until then. Bye for now. :-)

Hopeful for the new year,
Michelle

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween to all of your freaks and ghouls out there!  Smile  I hope you are all playing it safe and having a fun time tonight.  I’m doing my usual Halloween thing of spending the night in.  It’s raining something horrible out there so I don’t think there were any trick-or-treaters out tonight.  My friend even took her kids to the mall because we got hit with one of the coldest and wettest Halloweens in a long time. I remember Halloweens just a few years back where you had to wear short sleeve shirts because it was hot an muggy.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the cold, but the wind and rain make it extra brrrrrrr.  So I hope you are staying warm tonight if your neck of the woods is unseasonably cold too tonight.

Right now I am currently counting down the hours to the start of Nanorwrimo.  I am being a Nano Rebel this year by not writing a novel.  I’m going to be finishing up a script for the photostory I’ve been trying to finish for a long time now.  I think my time of Nanowrimo is coming to an end.  I don’t know if I’ll be doing it next year.  I do cherish the crazed writing during November, I just think I want to start making that an everyday thing than just a one month thing, so I don’t know about future Nanos.  But this year is my first as a Rebel and I’m kind of excited about it.  I don’t want to write a novel just to write a novel and waste time on something I’ll hate, so I will write the script which will hopefully help me write my story and get it done so I can start taking pictures in December and start putting it up next year.  Fingers crossed.

As for other things I am doing right now, I’m focusing on my health right now.  There are a lot of things I need to get done by the end of the year.  I have something I am dreading coming up in 28 days, and I don’t really want to talk about it right now because I’m that nervous about it.  It’s really silly to be nervous about it, but when I explain it…on the 28th or 29th of next month, then I’m sure it will be clearer why I dreaded it.  I’m working on inventory for my shop.  I finally found a place to put my shop.  I think that was another problem for me, where to put my shop, but I found a nice place for it to be that a lot of other doll sellers are on so it works.  And well, I guess that’s about it right now.  So the goals for the end of the month is to work on the immediate health issues at hand, get through that situation I’m dreading at the end of next month, and get the shop open.  I know I won’t make the Christmas rush with my shop, but that’s ok, as long as I get it open.  Oh, and yes I am still working on emails, comments, etc., etc. etc., you get the point.  I’m working on all that.  Now that some stress has been taken off of me with my parents health either doing better or being looked at, my mom still worries me some with her heart issues, I’m getting a little more calmer and I can focus better.  I’m hoping this next month will be busy and productive for me.  I’m ending this year on a good note, no matter what.  And NO Michelle, that isn’t jinxing it for you by saying it aloud.  Fingers crossed Smile

And on that crazy note, I will bring this post to a close.  I will talk to you lovelies soon.  Be good until then.  Bye for now.  Smile

Ever wonder why?

You ever wonder why certain people come and go from our lives and though you are sure they were there for a reason you really can’t explain why o4 what that reason was.  I like to think people come into your life to better your life in a positive way.  But I've recently learned that some people come in your life to better it but in in a negative way.  I’ve learned a lot this past year about people and I’m glad I met a certain individual who taught me one of life’s hard lessons to learn.  If you read this, I wish you well and hope that you do well in life and can finally do all the things you set out to do in life.  And I’m sorry things didn’t work out better between us.

If you are a dolly pal or a pal I am on talking terms with in general that ^^ was not aimed at you.  Smile  Now that I have closed the door on that little bit of drama for good, back on to dolly stuff.  Do you know it is virtually impossible to find Thanksgiving fabric?!?  I mean I went several places in town and I found some in Hancock Fabrics, but nothing nice or grossly out of scale even for Blythe who can handle slight scale shift.  At Hobby Lobby and Joann’s they only had harvest related fabrics.  *sigh*  Thanksgiving, the poorly misunderstood and unloved holiday.  Well I’m sure it’s loved for it’s yummy foods, football, and Black Friday planning, but other than that, nothing.  Well it was after a hard day of hunting that my mom came up with a grand idea.  Surely I can find Thanksgiving ribbon in town.  I can sew it onto the project I want to make.   And then my mom said if I can’t find ribbon I can always cross stitch a turkey onto the item.  Hummm…true.  Let’s just say I’d rather find the ribbon, but then again how much time could cross stitching a little turkey take?  Ok just asking that makes me realize how long it will actually take.  LOL!

But that is what I am working on at present.  Oh that and packaging and business cards.  I like my packaging idea.  It pulls from The Goodie Bag that I once had as my shop.  I’ll show you what my packaging looks like when I get it all done.  So yeah, that’s about it.  Nothing exciting really going on.  Kind of wish there was.  I’m bored in a big kind of way, but hopefully that will pass.  Oh one cool thing, I heard through as friend of my mom’s that there is a place in town beside Kroger that sells gluten-free food.  So I am going to go check that out some time in the next week.  And my boyfriend, he’s so cute, he was in the store yesterday buying some food and he saw gluten-free oatmeal and though of me.  I can’t be the only one who sees little things our guys do as being cute, right?  Winking smile

Humm, I feel this post is naked for some reason.  Let me leave you with some dancing music.  I’ve been jamming to this all evening.  Enjoy.  Smile

Ok, talk to you lovelies later.

Etsy or Artfire? You help me decide.

Hey guys, I don’t really have much of a blog for you today.  I’ve been busy sleeping, making horrible smelling gluten-free cupcakes and frosting from the package, and making a new shop logo I am actually happy with for once.  Now I just need to update some things in my policies, take some pictures, upload descriptions, and I’m in business baby!  I hope to have more details on that very soon.  But I do have two things for you lovely peeps.  First an awesomely done stop motion doll video with my fave cover of Raidohead’s “Creep”.  Have a look.

Creep (Radiohead) - Scala & Kolacny Brothers from Alex Heller on Vimeo.

One lonely doll's desperate attempt to be accepted.

Next up is a poll.  If you want to just skip the lengthy babble that follows and just vote in the poll, feel free to.  It’s pretty self explanatory.  All others interested in what I have to say please continue to read.  Smile  I’ve been hesitating putting this poll up for one reason or another, but I really want to know what you guys think.  I have accounts made on both Etsy and Artfire, but I don’t know which to open shop up at.  I know Etsy has the traffic and Artfire is SLOWLY up and coming.  But either way I’d have to market myself to get any traffic at my shop, so it’s not really a traffic thing for me when it comes to the doll items.  But I also want to make human items too.  In this case I think the traffic Etsy has would play a big part in me selling those items.  I’ve been checking both sites’ page rankings and while Etsy is 100 something Artfire is like 1000 something I believe.  Not really good when trying to sell in a big market.

Now my reason for wanting to use Artfire is because listing is free.  I’d kind of like to make some money before trying out Etsy.  But if the traffic isn’t there then I won’t make money anyway.  However, on Etsy to keep being seen you have to constantly relist or just list every day an item or two.  I could do the daily listing but I don’t want to do the relisting.  That is just to expensive for me in the end.  I’m willing to put a few bucks investment into Etsy to try it out.  I know my products will stay listed for 4 months and that’s plenty of time to promote and have deals to sell.  I just worry if I don’t make any money on what I am trying to sell that my shop will flop, but I guess that’s the risk you take when you attempt this kind of thing.  I honestly thought I had everything figured out, but after certain things I’ve read about both places I’m still up in the air.  *sigh*

When I think of Etsy and Artfire I see Artfire as being Myspace and Etsy as being Facebook.  For those of you who don’t understand, Artfire allows you to make your own shop up and use colors and backgrounds and you can even have a music player with your own music playing on your shop page.  You can have pictures of your dog, cat, Aunt Mae in your shop as well on your bio.  Now this is just all gaudy to me.  Really gaudy and not professional at all, kind of like Myspace that let’s you put up any backgrounds, music, pictures, etc. that you want…one of the reasons I closed mine.  Now Etsy on the other hand is all business all the way.  Same uniformed look for the most part, allowing you some customization in the forum of a profile picture and banner.  Very similar to Facebook.  I like the organized look of it and the cleanness of it.  I truthfully like everything about Etsy, except a few things.

Your items aren’t listed in search engines, you have to do it yourself from what I read.  Now here’s the thing, I don’t tend to use search engines to shop for handmade.  I tend to go to Etsy and sometimes Artfire directly and search for items that way.  So does SEO really matter in this count?  Do a lot of people search through Google for a handmade Blythe dress or fingerless gloves?  The way people talk it seems so, but I just don’t feel that’s the case.  Artfire does list items in search engines, even for basic accounts, but of course pro accounts get more acknowledgement.  Etsy doesn’t do that at all, so it makes me wonder if that would affect my sales.

Another thing that bothers me about Etsy is lack of customer support.  I’ve heard it can take days to weeks for you to hear back from Etsy when you have a problem.  I don’t like that.  I want help when a problem arises, not when it’s convenient to Etsy.  I mean you are giving them a cut of your sales so they should be very forthcoming with the help.  I’ve even heard cases where you won’t get a response at all.  Ummm…how is this good business?

Another thing about Etsy is they are seriously lacking in the sellers tools that Artfire and other sites already have.  That doesn’t work for me.  I like the things that Artfire has to offer for sellers, but of course that is if you become pro.  At this point both sites are even for me on that case, and I did think about becoming pro, but I just don’t like their attitude that if you are basic you are not considered one of the team really, and more of just a moocher.  Which makes me like Etsy more on that count again because no matter what, if you sell or buy on there you can participate on everything the site has to offer.  It makes for a nicer community to me.  So I am on the fence about which to go to.  I know I should just do both, which I was thinking do Artfire first and then slowly move to Etsy and then decide.  But then again I could just bit the bullet and jump into Etsy feet first and just really promote and work up my shop there.  So that is where you come in lovely readers.  If you have gotten this far, thankies for reading or just jumping ahead to take my poll.  Smile

Looking For Suggestions
Which site would you suggest I sell on?
Etsy
Artfire

I like the poll.  It’s kind of cute.  I may try more interesting polls in the future.  But back on topic now.  Taking any and all suggestions or stories of experience if you’d like to share.  Thankies in advance and I will talk to you all soon.  Having a bad tummy day so I want to lay down and ride it out.  *sigh*  I need to get out of this house and have some fun, maybe that will get me out of my funk.  Bye for now peeps, and have a great start to a wonderful week!  Smile

Let's go shopping.

So with the economy as it is, shopping until you drop is completely out of the question. But I figure as long as we look and only seldom touch, what's the harm? :-) So I wanted to start a weekly spot on my blog to mention some shops I find interesting. Now please note that most of these stores I HAVE NOT shopped at, but I find their products interesting. Please, as always, shop carefully if you totally fall in love with the stores I will be sharing with you. There are so many shops out there that just have the neatest stuff and I thought I'd share them with you. This list will not only be limited to corporation stores, I plan to share a lot of handmade shops as well, so don't be surprised if your shop shows up here one day soon. :-) With that said, let's move on to this week's shop.

Plasticland

The other day I started looking around for examples of mod clothing, my new obsession. Well in my search I found myself on Plasticland. They clam to sell Retro Clothing, Mod Clothes, Shoes, and Handbags. But of course the sell lots lots more. Now from what I see they don't sell actual vintage clothing but replicas of vintage clothing or clothing made with a vintage feel, which is almost as good as the original to me. The items on the website had me drooling for well over an hour. Some were gorgeous, some where pretty, some were cute, and some were down right funny, but all of them were neat and are not coveted. :-) I want to share some of my favorites with you. All images are from the website and do not belong to me. Please click on the pictures to be taken to the item sale page.

Photobucket

The first item I saw on the shop's site was this cake carrier. I was in love. It kind of reminded me of the one we had a kid. It was plastic but the handles still attached on top like this metal one.

Photobucket

As you can see the outside is decorated like a cake and has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid. So very cute. I think it's such a festive way to carry your cake in. Now I know most people don't carry handmade cakes around or just get one at Wally World and leave it in the plastic casing, but I honestly would use this carrier because I prefer baking cakes and buying them. I may be one of the few out there that do, but this would so be my kind of thing to purchase.

Photobucket

Now of course not all cakes are round and what about all the cupcakes you bake. Plasticland has you covered, literally. This square cupcake carrier is perfect for those longer cakes or the tons of pretty cupcakes we will all be making this Easter or for all the cookouts we will be attending.

Photobucket

It still has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid, and has enough room for a full dozen cupcakes. Once again I feel I am one of the few that would actually use this, but it's something I would so have in my kitchen ready to tote some yum-yums across town in the blink of an eye.

Photobucket

The next cool thing I want to talk about is this. Isn't it cool?!? What? You don't know exactly what it is? Don't feel bad, neither did I at first. Then I looked at the other pictures in the product description.

Photobucket

It's a gun condiment dispenser! What? You aren't as excited as I am about it? Oh come on, it's so cool. You fill up the separate little bottles and then put the one you want to use in the gun the shoot. It is completely a novelty item and not really something one would use all the time, but at a cookout or old western themed party this puppy would be a hit. :-) Still not convinced? *sigh* Moving on. :-)

Photobucket

Now this next item I thought was too cool. When I first looked at it I was like "Huh?", but then I "thought outside of the box" and quickly caught on. It's a doormat that greets your guests with a "Hello" when they walk into your house and a "Goodbye" when they leave your house. I thought that was pretty darn nifty. Ok, maybe a bit silly, but nifty none the less. :-D

Photobucket

Now these next two items are only a skimming of what the shop has to offer. Yes, these are socks. Cool socks. I honestly want one of each pair of socks on the site. This first pair is made to look like lolita lace up boots. Pink, girly, lolita...I'm so there. Loves it.

Photobucket

This next pair just caught my attention. I love Russian Nesting Dolls, and when I saw these socks I thought they were cool. But it took a second look to see what was on the inner calf side of the sock. Skeleton!!! LOL! The dolls are Love/Hate Matryoshka Russian Nesting Dolls. Very cool. Of course I don't know what you could wear these with, but these socks are made to be noticed so I'd have to figure something out. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is neat. Ok, so they all are. But just take a look at. It's a green umbrella!!! Aww come on, how often do you see a green umbrella?!? Still not sold huh? Hummm, well, what if it wasn't just a green umbrella? What if it was...

Photobucket

a leaf umbrella?!? Ok, yes, I'm a dork, but come on it's cool! I would so sport that on the many rainy days we have during the Spring and Summer. Just wish the bulk of them didn't have thunder and lightening mixed with them. Oh well. Still a cool umbrella to carry around with you. Humm, how weird would I look having it open on sunny days? Hey those uv rays are no joke, just protecting my skin is all. ;-)

Photobucket

So, as you could probably tell after the socks, this shop has clothing. Sorry boys, it's only female clothing, but it's still cute to look at and you may find something for the lady. So while looking through other items in the shop I found this skirt. It's solid black up except for an red anchor in the corner and red lace at the bottom.

Photobucket

The anchor detail is really cute. It matches the lace at the bottom. The skirt kind of makes me think of the 50s bombshells/pin up girls for some reason.

Photobucket

The back is what really interested me. I love the lacing detail in the back. I'm sure it's decorative and not functional, but it's still really neat. I don't think is for girls that have "issues" since it seems to be form fitting and from fabric that is not forgiving. So it would have to be left for the bombshells out there, but it's still nice to look at and wish I could wear it. ;-)

Photobucket

Ever since I learned how to do basic knitting I have wanted to learn how to crochet. I just think I would have more fun with crochet but it just seems so tricky to me when I try to learn it where knitting just seems to come easier for me. But when I saw the cute things and animals you could make with crochet it had me hooked more. I would love to make cute things from just yarn and a hook, but alas, my crochet skills are still in heavy development. I saw this book on Amazon and put it on a wishlist and forgot about it. Then I found it in this shop and it made me yearn to learn again.

Photobucket

Another book I saw on Amazon and wishlisted was this book. I thought it would be cool to take the skills I learned from the first book to put towards this book. Of course this was in my imaginative mind where I knew how to crochet in my sleep. :-) I still hold out hope of learning and of adding these two books to my slowly growing craft books. :-)

Photobucket

Another skill I always wanted to learn was embroidery. I know the basics of cross stitching and love it and just know embroidery would be a nice thread art for me to learn one day.

Photobucket

This book has patterns in it and iron-ons to stitch out. But be warned, these aren't your grandma's patterns. These are more modern and hip twists on an old craft. Very cool and I believe this was another book that was wishlisted and found in this shop. This shop is like a one stop shop for me. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is one of the shop's biggest sellers. Yesterday when I found it, it was sold out. Today it was restocked and then when I checked a few hours later it was sold out. Talk about popular. It's a birdcage shaped bulletin board of sorts. It's made to hold photos, letters, and whatever else you can pin to it. You get a few clothes pins and attach whatever to the bars. Very cute and very handy.

Photobucket

Ok so I'm a real dork with this next item. This has fascinated me since I first heard of them. Ice shot glasses. Now mind you, I wouldn't be using them for alcohol. I'd be using them for juice and soda. I know, so dorky, but why waste them on alcohol when you can use them on tasty drinks. :-D I so would love to have this ice try. I would be using it all the time. I don't think I'd have any need for regular glasses again. ;-) I kid! I kid! Sort of. :-)

Photobucket

This last one is another wishlisted book. I've slowly been becoming interested in cooking and baking. Well I always liked baking, but more so now since seeing the cool things you can do with some cake batter and icing.

Photobucket

I love this page. Look at all the things you can make in this book. Of course mine would never look as pretty as the staged pictures, but that's good. It'll be original when I do it then. :-)

Photobucket

I know someone who would simply squee over this page. She loves penguins. This is also a cupcake you can make. I know what you must be thinking, "Oh, but that's so hard to do. That book is for professionals.", not so.

Photobucket

This book shows what each piece is made from, and you'd be surprise how the items in the cupcakes are so simple and easy to get. You could have your own penguin in no time flat. You can just make out some of the items that went into the penguin. Fruit chew, vanilla icing. doughnut hole, and marshmallow just to name a few. So these cupcakes are very doable.

And this is just a tiny bit of all the awesome things you can find in the Plasticland shop. It's not your average shop and has a lot of unique items in it. If any of you decide to shop there you have to let me know what you got, I'm nosy. :-D Ok, so you don't really have to tell me, but I'm all ears if you want to squee about your lastest purchase. :-) Well that's all for this post and this shop. A new shop post coming soon. Until then, be good kids.

I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!

Photobucket

Did you miss me? Did you? Did you?! Did you?!? I hope so. ;-)

So what has my sexy self been up to? Not a damn thing. :-D Ok, so maybe not that. Let's see here. I went through my sad moment that kept me from feeling like blogging. Then I was dealing with some stuff with a friend who is trying to get away from her husband...still dealing with that and I am SO torn on what to do. Part of me wants to help her get away and the other part of me wants them to make up for the kids' sake. Its just so confusing with that, and I may post more about that in another post. Right now, this is all about moi. :-D

I've also been outlining for two novels I will be writing next month. So far its going ok, but time is running out and I still outlining novel one and the second one I am still trying to figure out. Ahhhh...I want to be ready to go by October 31st. *sigh* Anyone else joining me in this chaos? Please do, we can cheer each other on. :-)

What else? Oh, I've decided to donate some dolls to chartity. It seems there won't be enough toys to go around this year for the kids. So I am planning on cleaning up some of the dolls I have and sew them a little dress and baggie and send them on their way to the Salvation Army. I hope my little bit can help make a Happy Christmas for someone. But I need to get working on that now. This November is going to be crazy. I still need to find an easy pattern to sew. I want to make it so I can sell them also when I get back to my shop that I need to put on vacation mode for November. With my friend coming back to town, me trying to get back on track with life, writing two novel, doing dolls for chairity, Thanksgiving, my dad getting ready to retire and helping my mom get ready for that...well trying to run a shop just doesn't work for me right now. :-( I only have three things up right now, so that's ok, but I wish I could have sold something. Here is the link, I have put it in vaca mode, but you can see some of what I've been working on up in the banner. The Goodie Bag

I will put it back up after NaNoWriMo is over. Hope I can still get into some of the Christmas action. I would like to be up and open for Black Friday, that weekend, and then Black Monday with a sale on items. Will have to see how things turn out.

Photobucket

Ok, just curious, does anyone think this Hard Rock Cafe Barbie looks a bit like Amy Winehouse?

Photobucket

Ok, that was just nagging me, so I had to mention it. LOL! Ok, is there anything else? Oh, I am going up and down when it comes to my exercise and diet. I was doing good and got to 2 and half weeks of exercising every day, then one day it was cold and I didn't feel like doing it and BAM! no more exercise for 2 days. Need to do it today, but don't want to. Will do it around 10. I will stick to 15 miles a day instead of 15 miles twice a day. That just makes me not want to do it. But I can do 10 miles to quickly now. Ugh! And the diet has been crap lately. Ugh! Ok, enough about that. I need to call my friend in a few so I will close for now. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!!!

Photobucket

Hey guys, I know I'm starting early today, but heck, why not. I just checked some sales fliers for this upcoming week and Hancock Fabrics is having the 99 cent sale on both McCalls and Simplicity this week. Target has marked down some of their Barbie Basic Fashion dolls to 5 dollars. Great time to stock up on some outfits you may have wanted and couldn't get.

Won't be able to see Hobby Lobby's ad until later. Bummer. But I am trying not to spend money this week. I am hoping to start making money actually. I haven't worked on my shop in two days thanks to trying to work on writing. I don't honestly know how I will do both, but the month of November I don't care, I'm gonna write. I'll just have to try to get a sleeping pattern down during NORMAL hours of the day...night, and then use my time wisely. Now I understand what the teachers were trying to say back then.

So I have been working on my the outline for my potential two novels I am going to attempt to write next month. Its about a 9 year old girl, and oddly enough I thought it would be hard to write about a nine year old girl but I find outlining for her to be amazing and fun and I can't wait to get started. I'm still on novel one though. I have to have novel one AND two outlined out by October 31st so I can spend that day in chat for Nano and getting ready for some serious word wars. I'm honestly so excited about this...can you tell? :-D The story is coming along so nicely its just flowing from me. But its hard to get my mind to stop thinking about it so I can concentrate on other things. I need to work on my other novel too. Ugh!!! I think I will go to bed in about 30 minutes...even though I just woke up around 6 hours ago after 8 hours of sleep, and try to get up early in the morning like around 6. That is when I am most productive. Every one is asleep and just me, the birds singing, and the early bloomers who are walking and driving by. Paradise. Of course its a bit dark at that time, so I may not see many walkers but the birds and cars will be there with me. :-)

I really need a schedule so I can schedule time to write, brainstorm, sew, promote, blog, exercise, and chat within the day. Oh yeah, and sleep. LOL! A lot of work, but I am sure I can manage it...somehow. Ok guys, just wanted to pop on real quick and say hi! I know I need to pop by some of your blogs and I promise to get to that. Just spread myself a little thin lately spending all my time on my shop and writing. Later on today is a busy day so I may or may not get to your blogs but I will, I promise. Ok, talk to you all soon. Bye for now and have a great Sunday. :-D

Finally!!! Oh yeah, and Happy Thursday and Happy October!!!

Photobucket

Ok, so last night I was working on my shop and it deleted my stop policies every time I tried to save them. After the second time I finally got smart and started saving it in Notepad first. But it didn't keep me from getting frustrated. Well today I typed in "Coming soon." and it stayed so I tried putting my policies back in. Wouldn't save!!! Tried a few more times and almost gave up when I decided to take out some of the spaces I had between lines. Saved perfectly. Then I saw I had an error and needed to take it out. I took it out, clicked save, and covered my eyes...seriously. I looked back and it was still there!!! Yes!!! So no today my task is to upload a few things and then get to work on new stuff. I feel so nervous opening a shop, but its something I really want to do. I just wonder how I will do on Artfire.

Here are my thoughts on Artfire. Its new, but closing the gap between Etsy traffic and them. They are still in beta working things out, but I feel once they do work things out that a lot of Etsy people will move over or at least open a second shop there. It honestly reminds me of Myspace and Facebook. Myspace was the big cheese a while back and everyone had an account opened there. Then Facebook opened and it took a while for them to work out their kinks and now its now on level if not more popular than Myspace. I think Artfire will be the same and soon the traffic will come. I'm hoping to be able to go verified by the end of the month. I would like to have the perks of a verified member and perhaps see about becoming a Maven. Right now I just want to work on my shop and get into a flow with it so I won't have to worry about the structure of it and just create and upload it. Ugh! So much work, but if I can start selling stuff then it will be worth it. Right now I just frustrated, but that will pass I'm sure once I get a flow to things.

Ok, so mostly this post was to vent. I'm off to edit some pictures and take a few more before I'm out of daylight. Wish I had morning light to use, but go to bed late and no morning light for you. Oh well. Happy Thursday everyone one, and Happy October!!!

Ahhh stupid!!!

I had some nice policies set up on for my ArtFire shop and just changing them a tiny bit made them disappear!!! Now I have NO policies any more and I had a nice formatted list of stuff to cover everything. And I was an idiot and didn't make a backup of it!!! Omg!!! :-( I've been working on this freaking thing all day and now I just give up. I had an item listed and was ready to list a couple and now I just want to give up and crawl into bed and read and call it a day. Ugh!!! I even got a paper/cardboard cut from all this mess!!! Ahhh!!! Ok, gonna go try to piece it back together. I will just assume this time I will make them better and there is a reason why they disappeared. Its the only way I can keep from screaming. *sigh* I hopefully will have the shop link ready for viewing soon.

Official Artfire Announcement

So it has been officially announced that Basic and Verified accounts have unlimited posting for the holidays. If there was ever a time to try Artfire, this would be the time. Just wish I could get off my duff and get my stuff uploaded. But now that I don't have to pick and choose any more, I guess I just need to take pictures of my stuff and make some more goodie bags for everything to go into. This may end up being a very creative holiday season for me! :-)

More of my miniature shopping spree.

So, while at Big Lots, I bought a couple more things besides my coveted Alvin Ailey doll.

Things I picked up at Bigga Lots.

Ok, so I had seen this book there for a while and passed it by, but on Saturday I just decided to pick it up and give it a try. I have decided not to judge books by their cover anymore and read the story and make my own choice about the story. I'll do a book review when I finish. I have SEVERAL book reviews to do actually. Just need to scan all the covers. I plan on redoing some of my old reviews too, so look forward to that. :-D

Next is the yarn. When I went to Big Lots a couple of weeks back, I saw this yarn and wanted to try it for Autumn doll sweaters. I went back last week and pick up a completely different one, but it looked so similar I thought it was that one. But when I was there Saturday, I saw I got the wrong one, so I picked up this one. Can't wait to try it out.

The toy I saw right before I checked out. Its a little terry cloth dog toy that I picked up for my ferret to play with and hide...more like just hide actually. Which reminds me, she is due a running before it gets to late. Ugh, not looking forward to that. She's like several 2-year-olds in one. LOL!

So on to the topic of crafting, I am doing some finishing touches on my photo cubes I have been working on. The dry time is the worst part. But I think they came out cute. I will be selling them two together. I will have 3 pairs to sell when I am all done. Then I will be moving to doll clothing for a while. But I wanted to show you the recent photo cube I've been working on. Its a serious WIP, but still want to show it. Excuse the blurry pics, my macro setting sucks without a ton of natural light, but you can get the idea of the color.

Here is the original color I painted on the cube.

Green Paint Number 1

Here's the second color.

Green Paint Number 2

Here's the third color.

Green Paint Number 3

Here's the fourth color.

Green Paint Number 4

So, what color did I go with? Well I picked this one.

Green Paint Cube

Then decided against it and made a mix of one of them and another color which came out a little nicer. I will show you the outcome of the cube when I am done. I guess I will show them all off right before I put them in the shop. I am waiting on some flat rate boxes to be mailed my way. Its the cheapest way I see on shipping items and I order two cases of them. That was the only thing holding me back. Woo hoo! We are in business!!! Can't wait to have my "Grand Opening". LOL! Well that's all for now. Gonna go work on that cube a bit more, play a game on Facebook...ugh, catch up on some blogs, and work on my shop some. Bye for now. :-)
