Barbie grows boobies...again?

Photobucket

So I'm sure some of you know about the doll from the 70s called Growing up Skipper. She was a highly controversial doll for her time. The concept of her was you'd turn her arm and she would grow breasts, ergo, she'd grow up. Now I personally don't see anything wrong with this doll and would have given her to any daughters I would have had. But I understand for the time that she was a bit shocking. It brought sexuality into your little girl's life when you just wanted her to stay an innocent little girl. Below is a video that talks more about this interesting doll.

So while you would think that this doll didn't do to well, far be it from Mattel to stray from their regular pattern of repeating their dolls from the past to try to get a hopeful successful repeat run with it. Enter Growing Up My Scene Glam dolls.

Photobucket

I honestly have never heard of these dolls and am bummed I missed out on the chance to own one. LOL!

Photobucket

I think the concept of this doll is way better than Growing Up Skipper. She grows several inches and grows breasts. You can change her make-up for a more mature look and change her shoes from flats to heels.

Photobucket

I'm guessing this doll didn't do to well either seeing it that you didn't really hear about it, but maybe I was just out of the loop around this time.

Photobucket

This time around Mattel changed the way their doll grew up. Instead of turning her arm you turn a crank in her back which makes her grow up and out. I like this concept and I think in the world we live in now young girls could have "gotten" it. Below is a video that tells more about the doll.

So tell me, did you know about this doll? Was I just out of the loop? And if you knew about it, what did you think about it? What did other people you knew think about them? Did you or do you own one? How did you or do you like it? The curious mind is...well...curious. :-D Ok kids, I'm off. I've had a kind of hard day and think I want to head back to bed. Just wanted to post about this real quick. Talk to you all later. Bye for now.

So this morning...

I woke up early and was happy to not have to go anywhere right away, like the rest of the week usually goes. I sat down at my desk, opened the window, and turned on my computer. The house phone rang and it was my dad. No biggie, he usually calls my mom to tell her he got back to work ok. She commented that he got there safely and they must need him. He said yep and that he quit. *Insert sound of record scratch here.* Uh...daddy who's no longer working say what?

We were all in a state of shock. Even my boyfriend was shocked when I told him. My dad has been working ever since he was 15. Well actually younger, but it was more of free child labor. But being paid employment has been since 15 since my grandmother lied to get him into the Army a year before he was legal. Anyway, so after he retired from the Army he went into trucking and there he stayed until oh about a couple of hours ago. He just got home from driving back from where his company is located about 10-15 minutes ago. When he walked up to the porch I asked him how he felt to be unemployed after a million years of working. He smiled and said he didn't know but he was about to find out. So he came in with a limp due to aches and pains in his joints and went down to his room to start his retired life.

It honestly made me want to smile and say "Job well done Dad. Job well done." That man has been through so much in his life and if anyone deserves a break to just sit back and enjoy life it's my dad. Ever since I was a child the one thing I wanted most was a dad who would come home after work and be home. Sure he did that when I was very young but he was young then too and still wanted to go out and do his own thing so he wasn't home much then either and he went into trucking when I was 7 or 8 and so he hasn't been much in my life except for occasional stops home. But now, years later, my wish has been answered and well now I feel it's ok for me to work on moving along in my life. My mom won't be alone when I do leave and she will have help if she needs it, but of course I'll still be in town or a short drive away so she can still call if she needs me. But today is just weird. I knew my dad wanted to retire next month but I never thought of what it would mean for me or my life and how freeing that would be. Long story to really explain and don't really want to get into on this blog, but yeah, just mostly wanted to say my dad is officially "retired" and it makes me happy he can finally relax and enjoy life.

I'm hoping now both my parents will work on getting in better health so they will be with us longer. My dad went to the doctors yesterday and got a good bill of health. His PSA levels were down, this is related to his prostate cancer from 2003, it was below zero. So happy to hear that. His cancer was so bad if not caught when it was he wouldn't be here today. It was a scary time for my family. We still hadn't dealt with the passing of my brother a couple of years before and here we were faced with the possibility of losing my dad. Thank goodness my mom wanted to check him for diabetes because he was so rung out and they found out he had cancer through that. But back to his visit, his cholesterol is down again, his diabetes is down to borderline, and his blood pressure is good. Now they took some xrays of his chest to see if he might have lung cancer due to him being a smoker, so please send any thoughts, prayers, or healing vibes his way if you could. Since he's home now we are going to work hard on getting everyone in good health now. Better late than never right.

But yeah that's about all I wanted to say really. Just congrats to my dad for taking a right step for him and calling it quits on employment. I hope he enjoys being home with three females. LOL! All close friends, who happen to be male, all send their support and well wishes to him. They know how me and my mom are...my sister is pretty tame but can be a yapper too. So they feel he's a strong man to willingly come home to the chaos that is my family. LOL! Gotta love boys and their bonding together. *rolls eyes* My dad's a good sport so I think he'll handle it. My friend Kenny comes over to help him with the yard work and I think that will help balance out the male bonding in the house...as long as his mom doesn't find out he's been helping with the yard work here. :-D

But other than that the morning has been kind of mellow. I found out a friend of my sister, his brother died. So sad the story behind it, and I send thoughts and prayers his way. :-(

Humm, is there anything else I can put in this post? Yep. So I am working on the first episode of my new photostories. I did Camp Celeb several years ago and never did anything after that even though I had a full story written out. But now I am returning to the story with major changes. So we will see how it goes. If I find Camp Celeb anywhere I will be sure to post it on my website for you all to see. It's very raw and my first work. I hope my stories will have gotten better since then. :-)

Ok kids, I am off now. I need to get dressed to go out and spend some money I know I shouldn't be spending. Bye for now kids. Be good. :-)

What have I been doing lately?

Ok, so this will be a quick post. Over the past month I have been working on some small projects. I wanted to make a quick post about them.

Project

First up is a non doll related project. Years ago I watched "The Sound of Music" with my sister and got hooked on the song "Edelweiss". I was constantly humming it. Well for Christmas that year my sister got me an egg shaped water globe that played "Edelweiss". I loved it! Well over the years the globe turned a brown color from bacteria and I didn't notice it until it was too late. However, from working at "The Music Box" in the mall I learned that the brown color was a problem for a lot of globes and that if you put it in direct sunlight you can kill off the bacteria and turn you globe back to clear. So I've been working on that and slowly but surly it is turning lighter. I haven't been doing it lately since having to move things for this weekend. Ugh! And I may decide to just put the globe outside during the day for direct sunlight and heat and hope it will work faster. Just need to see if the extreme heat could pop the glass before I do it. Anyone know if the heat would do that? But yeah this picture is from day one and the next one is from a couple of weeks later.

It's slow going but it's getting there. Not sure if I will ever get it back to clear since it got so cloudy but even if it just gets to a light tea color it would be better than the dark tea almost coffee color it was.

Craft Project

On to my second project. So what could this be? Well, after I got Joanne's package with my Rose Titanic doll I realized I had no backgrounds to take pictures in front of. So I came up with an idea of how to make some with watercolor and canvas paper...which I am in love with now. I didn't take pictures of all the backgrounds but they are all similar just with different colors. here are two for you to look at.

ITP Prize

ITP Prize

I like them and they seem to give the background some texture which I like. Kind of like a sponge effect, which is what I was actually doing so I hope it comes off as that somewhat. Another item I used that wasn't pictures was an old toothbrush for a spray effect.

Testing Picture

Another project I am working on, that I will be hush-hush about, resulted in this test picture. I love the effect and it's exactly what I was going for. I just hope I can catch this look again when I do my project. Wish I could tell you more but you should all find out about it by the end of the month. :-) Stay tuned until then. :-) Well I am off again kids. I've got things I simply must do, but I will be back with another post very soon. Be good until then. Bye.

Explanations and Very Belated Thank Yous

Ok, so where do I start. Well, as some of you know, I got sick around late Jan. early Feb. with what I believe might have been Swine Flu. I was very sick and sick for a month. I got better and no sooner did I get better I got sick again and was out for the count for a little over a week. All these colds and the season changing got me majorly depressed so I started pulling away from the places I hung out on the internet. Also once I got Joanne's gift I wanted a nice background to display them with. Lacking any such background I decided to make some which took a couple of days and of course this was during the height of my second cold. Ugh! But after all that work I now have some lovely backgrounds and flooring that you can see some of in the following pictures. :-)

After that we had wiring problems in my house and most of the upstairs had to be in the dark all day which is where my computer is, so I didn't get online then much either. Now during all this I received two lovely prizes from Ray and Joanne from the "In The Pink" forum and while I gave Ray a quick thank you I never got pictures taken of the gal I got and I never got to thank Joanne at all which I feel SO SO SO SO SO bad about. So I hope Ray and Joanne can forgive me for lack of pics or respond to their gracious gifts and I hope the following pics make up for that. I love all the wonderful things I've received and they cheered me up during a icky time. I hope to jump back into the doll forums again this week, but I now have the big task of Spring cleaning ahead of me after this last weekend, which I will explain in another post. Ok, now on with the pictures. :-)

ITP Prize

Here is everything I have received over the past few months. The lovely Pop Life Barbie I won in a drawing from Ray. Thank you so much Ray for your generous offer. I love her! Her name is Vienna and just can't get enough of her. :-) The Rose Titanic doll and other goodies are from Joanne. Thank you so much Joanne. I honestly felt so spoiled when I opened the box. I gasped at everything and was just in shock. You are such a sweetheart and so generous. I love Rose and stare at her all the time when I see her on my shelf. I saw the making of the Rose doll and just giggle at the fact that I now own one myself. :-)

ITP Prize

This picture shows one of the cutest items in the box Joanne sent me. I believe she is called a Mini B and she's just the sweetest thing. I never wanted one before but after seeing one in person I want another one to keep her company. ;-) Tuesday Morning has the My Favorite Barbie Time Capsule Mini B pack for a nice price. I may have to give in. Doll people are such enablers. I love it. ;-) She is being held by Vienna my Pop Life Barbie.

ITP Prize

This next picture is Vienna in one of the dresses that Joanne sent. It's a beautiful gold dress that looks like it has sequins on it. Very pretty and I believe Vienna claimed it as hers. ;-)

ITP Prize

Here's another lovely dress from Joanne. It's a pretty lilac color. And yes, Vienna has claimed it as hers also. This is one girl who does not like to share. But you have to admit, it does look good on her. :-)

ITP Prize

Ok, admit it, she looks hot in this. Once again from the lovely Joanne. I love how the jacket fits over the shirt. However I am quickly learning not to let Vienna model everything because she wants to keep it all for herself. I'm hoping she will share but have already told the other girls not to get their hopes up. ;-)

ITP Prize

She loves this shirt and wants a red pair of pants to wear with it. I don't believe I own any red pants for the 1/6th crowd so I think she's hinting at me actually sewing her some. Hummm...I guess I could try it. I have a pair of jeans that fit her that I love on her. So maybe I can make a pattern off of them. Greedy girl!

ITP Prize

Once again I want to thank Ray and Joanne for their extremely generous hearts and the lovely prizes they sent me. I will honestly treasure them always. :-) I'm so sorry it's taken me some time to get back to you about it but I hope you can forgive me for that.

Well that's all for now kids. I still have some posts for you all but I really need to get cracking on some spring cleaning so I can get cracking on some other stuff I've wanted to do. I'll talk to you soon. Bye for now. Be good!

Exhausting and confusing weekend.

Ever had one of those weekends where you are just on the go go go and then something good happens followed by something bad and you just can't made heads or tales of it but you realize the weekend is over so you just decide to leave it in the weekend and try to start the week over fresh and new? Yeah, that's the kind of weekend I just had and I'm so glad it's over. I don't understand how it could be so good and so confusing at the same time. Meh. Just so confusing. Like I said, glad it's over and I am looking forward to the new week starting. Ok yeah, I know "officially" the week begins on Sunday but MY week begins on Monday. So come on Monday!!! Let me start fresh and new on the week!!! It's time to start some Spring cleaning and getting back to exercise and weight loss.

Of course a week wouldn't be perfect without some downfall. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Ugh! It's just a follow up cleaning to my deep tissue cleaning. So it's ok, but kind of wish I didn't have to go do it. Ugh, acid acting up in my stomach so gonna say ciao for now. Bye kids. Be good. :-)

Good-bye Winter. :-( Hello Spring.

Photobucket

Hey kids! So let me just say that the past couple of weeks has been a rough one for me. Very rough. And today seemed to balance it out more. I'm slowly coming to terms with some things, getting things fixed in my life, and now I'm getting ready for a big purge that I hope will continue this positive cycle I'm currently on. I will explain a little more later. I just wanted to pop on and say a sad good-bye to Winter and a silent hello to Spring. I have some mixed feelings about Spring but it's here for three months so I best get used to it. It's far better than Summer, but still.

Photobucket

So hello Spring and may you be good to me this year. Ok kids gotta go. I'm currently nursing a back twinge that refuses to go away after a hectic couple of days. Talk to you soon, and have a completely awesome weekend! :-)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Photobucket

Sorry I haven't been posting much. Life has suddenly taken a bit of twist and I suddenly find myself constantly tired and also trying to clean and rearrange several rooms so that all the wiring upstairs can be checked. Long story, just know I'm fully irritated by it all and fully stressed because I have to walk around in the dark once it hit about 6:30 or 7 at night. Ugh. More about this later. Just hope you all had a great day today and didn't get pinched...much. Talk to you all later. Byers for now.

Let's all go to the movies...

Ok, so I haven't gone to the movies recently, but I did recently watch some movies. The following movies I watched in the past week a couple of months ago during the week of January 4th...man I shouldn't let drafts get so old. Anyway, these movies are mostly old ones that I had never seen before. So here go the reviews!

Photobucket

The first movie I watched was "Fiddler on the Roof" I had heard this was a great classic movie, and I have to agree, it was. Now I must warn you, this movie is LONGGGG. Over 3 hours I believe. So get comfy with this one. It's so worth the watch. The story centers on the life of a Jewish man named Tevye. Tevye is very much about his family traditions, but as times are quickly changing, he finds himself having to be a bit lenient on his traditions to please his family and in the end please himself.

I love how this man loves to break down the fourth wall. It's never just you alone in the room watching this movie. Oh no. Tevye makes sure you are included in on the fun. LOL! He talks out his problems with you to help him come to a conclusion. The decision making of course always starts with TRADITION! Get used to that. No, literally. He yells it several times throughout the movie.

Tevye and his family are poor, but he gets by and doesn't complain...much. He does have a song and dance about what his life would be like if he were a rich man, but that's about the extent of it.

Now, the fiddler part. I'm going to nab a part from Wiki that better explains it. I loved the fiddler because of the symbolism he stood for. He was in the very final scene of the movie to remind Tevye as well as us that no matter where we go, we still face the same issues in life but we just need to do our best to deal with it and keep carrying on. The following is how the Wiki describes it.

The film begins with Tevye explaining to the audience that what keeps the Jews of Anatevka going is the balance they achieve through following their ancient traditions. He also explains that the lot of the Jews in Russia is as precarious as a fiddler on a roof: trying to eke out a pleasant tune, while not breaking their necks. The fiddler appears throughout the film as a metaphoric reminder of the Jews' ever-present fears and danger.

Just before the closing credits, Tevye spots the fiddler and motions to him to come along, and the film ends with the fiddler following Tevye down the road, playing the "Tradition" theme.

Now the music from the movie was amazing. Beautiful songs that you fall in love with honestly. They songs themselves told the story and made you feel for the characters.

All-in-all, the movie is a very touching and also intense movie about life and prejudice and how it effects those that are the subject of it. Very good movie. On a scale of one to ten, one being worse and ten being best, I give this movie a 10.

Photobucket

The next movie I watch was "Singing in the Rain".

This movie is another great movie. Though not nearly as long as Fiddler, this movie still has a lot of story in with plenty of comedy. The movie is basically about how the company that makes a silent film series called "The Dueling Cavalier" is faced with the reality that silent films are a thing of the past and movies with sound, talkies, are the new rage. However, they have one tiny problem. The leading lady of their films makes scratching on a chalkboard sound like sweet music when she talks. Uh oh. What do they do now?

Well the star of their series, Don Lockwood, meets a young lady by the name of Kathy Selden when he unexpectedly jumps into her car to escape a mob of fans. They don't hit things off on the right foot, but he can't get her out of his mind. He moans about "the one that got away" to his best pal Cosmo Brown, who I think is the real cutie of the show. Cosmo does the music for the silent movies and has worked along side Don since they were kids. He vows to help Don find his leading lady, that is until she walked into set that day for a job. She gets the job but turns it down once she sees Don is involved. A few songs and dances are involved over the next part, but the three become friends after it all. It was then that Cosmo discovers the solution to their problem with leading lady Lina Lamont's "lovely" voice. Can anyone say voice over? A few more songs and dances happen, some conflict, and the story ends happily as most movies from that time did.

This movie was a nice lighthearted movie that made you smile, laugh, and maybe even swoon a little over the cuties in the movie. I give this movie on a scale of 1 to 10 with one being worse and 10 being best a 9. It was a very interesting movie with great music, great dancing, and an interesting plot. The plot was very overdone back in those times, but still a very nicely pulled off plot. The reason I gave it a 9 is because some of the songs are very drawn out and very slowly. Kind of made the story a big sluggish in pace. But other than that I loved the movie.

Can't find an embed link on any of the videos, so you will have to go to the video on YouTube. Click here to watch "Make'em Laugh" sung by Cosmo.

Photobucket

The next movie I watched was "For Me and My Gal". It's about a guy and gal vaudeville act. They are trying so hard to get their act into the Palace Theater on Broadway. When it finally happens, the guy, Harry Palmer, gets drafted into the Army to go fight in World War I. But Harry just can't miss this opportunity. Him and his gal pal, Jo Hayden, worked to hard to give up now. In order to get out of the draft Harry figures out a plan to hurt himself and disfigure himself. On the way to tell Jo that they can still do the Palace Theater gig Jo gets a telegram telling her that her only brother and only sibling died in the war. Crying her heart out Harry comes to tell her "the good news". When Jo figures out what he did she ends the act right there. Harry sees what a mess he made of things and tries to fix unsuccessfully until one night an opportunity presents itself and he takes it. It ends very happily and the two live happily ever after.

This movie is a very cute musical with a lighthearted story. It had it's sad moments but for the most part it was a cheery story that's sure to make you smile. On a scale of one to ten with one being worse and ten being best I give it an 8. The movie was very good, just not 10 good. It had it's sluggish slow parts and sometimes the plot felt holey, but for the most part a very good movie.

Photobucket

The next movie I watched was "Julie and Julia". I know, woo hoo a modern movie! ;-) I had wanted to see this movie since last year when it came out two days before my birthday. But of course I wasn't feeling well due to the tummy so I missed out. Also no one wanted to see it with me and going to the movies alone just plan sucks. So I waited until I got a chance to see it. It was so worth the wait.

Can I just say they picked the two perfect actresses to play Julie and Julia. I love them both and they just told the story perfectly. Love, love, love, love, love! Ok so the story is pretty simple. Julie is a striving writer. She works at a heartbreaking and sometimes heart-wrenching job answering phone calls from and for victims of 9/11. She finds herself in a rut. Unable to get published and working in a job that is killing her spirit. It's then that her husband suggests she get a hobby. She thinks about it and finds out one of her friends has a popular blog. she feels she could blog and blogging would make her a writer. But what does she blog about? Her hubby gives her suggestions and she finally comes up with the idea to blog about cooking since she loves it so much and it takes her away from her daily troubles. She decides to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". Enter Julia's side of the story.

Julia is with her husband in Paris. He's there on business and she's just...well...there. She doesn't have a hobby or anything. She tries to decide what she could do. She tries several things but they just don't click. It's not until she noticed that she loved french food and eating that she decided to learn how to cook french cuisine. Yum. She starts off at a ladies school and finds that she is not challenged enough so she goes to the male school. I believe it was military men learning how to cook. She learns to become fearless in her cooking and begins to learn what she coveted most, the art of french cooking. After her classes she meets some lovely ladies who are trying to create what Julia wanted, a simple English french cooking cookbook. But the publishers did not think it was clear cut enough and Julia stepped in to help them. She "dumbed down" the book and made it perfect for the English speaking audience.

The two ladies' stories are interwoven together throughout the movie and they moved back and forth seamlessly. It ends happily with Julia getting her book published and Julie reaching her goal and going to the Smithsonian to see Julia's actual kitchen, leaving her a keepsake...a stick of butter. *tear*

Loved this movie. The only sad part was Julia saw what Julie was doing as a joke and was turned off by her. So Julie never got to meet Julia, but she had her Julia in her head and was happy with that. She still loved Julia through it all and that made it all better. :-)

On a scale of one to ten with one being worse and ten being best I give this movie a 10. Sweet movie, with great actresses and actors, and a seamless transition. It's a must watch.

No embed video links so you will have to go to YouTube to see a video of the movie. Click here to see a clip of Julie and Julia. Bon Appetit!

The final and I think the best movie I watched in this particular week was "Bringing Up Baby". This movie is CRAZY. It stars Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant. This movie was one of those that was way before it's time. It was not well accepted and critics said Katherine Hepburn was horrible at comedy and slapstick. I so disagree. Katherine Hepburn did wonderful in this movie. I laughed my rear off at this movie. And Cary Grant was perfect too. The two worked perfectly off their delivery.

So what's the cra-cra movie about? At first it's about Cary Grant's character David Huxley is a paleontologist that for several years has been trying to put together the skeleton of a Brontosaurus, but he is sadly missing one piece of it. At the beginning of the story he happily learns from his fiancee it was found in a dig and it was on the way to him. With that problem off his shoulders her had his looming nuptials as well as a golfing appointment with the man who could donate a million dollars to his museum. When he makes his appointment on the golf course this is where he makes the unfortunate acquaintance of one Miss Susan Vance, Katherine Hepburn's character. This is where all of David's troubles started. She ruined his golf game and stole his car, along with him. Gotta watch the movie to understand that last part.

After recouping from the golf disaster, David arranges a dinner to meet again with his hopeful donator. Only one problem. He once again runs into Susan who once again manages to cause him trouble. She continues to cause her trouble until the end of the evening where David hoped he had seen the last of her. Nope. He gets a call from Susan the next day who explains that she has a baby leopard in her apartment. Enter Baby. From this point on Susan and David go through one crazy mishap after another from trying to get Baby to a much safer place, to losing the coveted Brontosaurus bone back from a dog, to getting arrested, to ending the day on a good note after surviving an encounter with a leopard that just happened to not Baby and very wild. In the end Susan and David end up happy but not without one more mishap on Susan's behalf. Very funny stuff in this movie and it's sad it didn't do well in it's time. It severely affect Hepburn's career as well as the director of the film. Very sad. But I guess better late than never. This movie is loved by many now and is definitely at the top of my list.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being worse and 10 being best I give this movie a 10. It purely a classic movie and so funny it will have you in giggling at all the crazy stuff these two characters go through. Katherine Hepburn reminds me so much of Parker Posey in this movie, especially from Party Girl.

Well that is my long-winded post on the movies I watched several months ago and actually MEANT to post about, but got lazy and didn't. *sigh* I so need to keep on the ball more with these posts. Oh well, better late than never. Wait, that's the second time I've said that in this post. Yep, time to close this post. Bye for now kids.

Let's go shopping.

So with the economy as it is, shopping until you drop is completely out of the question. But I figure as long as we look and only seldom touch, what's the harm? :-) So I wanted to start a weekly spot on my blog to mention some shops I find interesting. Now please note that most of these stores I HAVE NOT shopped at, but I find their products interesting. Please, as always, shop carefully if you totally fall in love with the stores I will be sharing with you. There are so many shops out there that just have the neatest stuff and I thought I'd share them with you. This list will not only be limited to corporation stores, I plan to share a lot of handmade shops as well, so don't be surprised if your shop shows up here one day soon. :-) With that said, let's move on to this week's shop.

Plasticland

The other day I started looking around for examples of mod clothing, my new obsession. Well in my search I found myself on Plasticland. They clam to sell Retro Clothing, Mod Clothes, Shoes, and Handbags. But of course the sell lots lots more. Now from what I see they don't sell actual vintage clothing but replicas of vintage clothing or clothing made with a vintage feel, which is almost as good as the original to me. The items on the website had me drooling for well over an hour. Some were gorgeous, some where pretty, some were cute, and some were down right funny, but all of them were neat and are not coveted. :-) I want to share some of my favorites with you. All images are from the website and do not belong to me. Please click on the pictures to be taken to the item sale page.

Photobucket

The first item I saw on the shop's site was this cake carrier. I was in love. It kind of reminded me of the one we had a kid. It was plastic but the handles still attached on top like this metal one.

Photobucket

As you can see the outside is decorated like a cake and has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid. So very cute. I think it's such a festive way to carry your cake in. Now I know most people don't carry handmade cakes around or just get one at Wally World and leave it in the plastic casing, but I honestly would use this carrier because I prefer baking cakes and buying them. I may be one of the few out there that do, but this would so be my kind of thing to purchase.

Photobucket

Now of course not all cakes are round and what about all the cupcakes you bake. Plasticland has you covered, literally. This square cupcake carrier is perfect for those longer cakes or the tons of pretty cupcakes we will all be making this Easter or for all the cookouts we will be attending.

It still has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid, and has enough room for a full dozen cupcakes. Once again I feel I am one of the few that would actually use this, but it's something I would so have in my kitchen ready to tote some yum-yums across town in the blink of an eye.

Photobucket

The next cool thing I want to talk about is this. Isn't it cool?!? What? You don't know exactly what it is? Don't feel bad, neither did I at first. Then I looked at the other pictures in the product description.

Photobucket

It's a gun condiment dispenser! What? You aren't as excited as I am about it? Oh come on, it's so cool. You fill up the separate little bottles and then put the one you want to use in the gun the shoot. It is completely a novelty item and not really something one would use all the time, but at a cookout or old western themed party this puppy would be a hit. :-) Still not convinced? *sigh* Moving on. :-)

Photobucket

Now this next item I thought was too cool. When I first looked at it I was like "Huh?", but then I "thought outside of the box" and quickly caught on. It's a doormat that greets your guests with a "Hello" when they walk into your house and a "Goodbye" when they leave your house. I thought that was pretty darn nifty. Ok, maybe a bit silly, but nifty none the less. :-D

Photobucket

Now these next two items are only a skimming of what the shop has to offer. Yes, these are socks. Cool socks. I honestly want one of each pair of socks on the site. This first pair is made to look like lolita lace up boots. Pink, girly, lolita...I'm so there. Loves it.

Photobucket

This next pair just caught my attention. I love Russian Nesting Dolls, and when I saw these socks I thought they were cool. But it took a second look to see what was on the inner calf side of the sock. Skeleton!!! LOL! The dolls are Love/Hate Matryoshka Russian Nesting Dolls. Very cool. Of course I don't know what you could wear these with, but these socks are made to be noticed so I'd have to figure something out. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is neat. Ok, so they all are. But just take a look at. It's a green umbrella!!! Aww come on, how often do you see a green umbrella?!? Still not sold huh? Hummm, well, what if it wasn't just a green umbrella? What if it was...

Photobucket

a leaf umbrella?!? Ok, yes, I'm a dork, but come on it's cool! I would so sport that on the many rainy days we have during the Spring and Summer. Just wish the bulk of them didn't have thunder and lightening mixed with them. Oh well. Still a cool umbrella to carry around with you. Humm, how weird would I look having it open on sunny days? Hey those uv rays are no joke, just protecting my skin is all. ;-)

So, as you could probably tell after the socks, this shop has clothing. Sorry boys, it's only female clothing, but it's still cute to look at and you may find something for the lady. So while looking through other items in the shop I found this skirt. It's solid black up except for an red anchor in the corner and red lace at the bottom.

Photobucket

The anchor detail is really cute. It matches the lace at the bottom. The skirt kind of makes me think of the 50s bombshells/pin up girls for some reason.

Photobucket

The back is what really interested me. I love the lacing detail in the back. I'm sure it's decorative and not functional, but it's still really neat. I don't think is for girls that have "issues" since it seems to be form fitting and from fabric that is not forgiving. So it would have to be left for the bombshells out there, but it's still nice to look at and wish I could wear it. ;-)

Ever since I learned how to do basic knitting I have wanted to learn how to crochet. I just think I would have more fun with crochet but it just seems so tricky to me when I try to learn it where knitting just seems to come easier for me. But when I saw the cute things and animals you could make with crochet it had me hooked more. I would love to make cute things from just yarn and a hook, but alas, my crochet skills are still in heavy development. I saw this book on Amazon and put it on a wishlist and forgot about it. Then I found it in this shop and it made me yearn to learn again.

Photobucket

Another book I saw on Amazon and wishlisted was this book. I thought it would be cool to take the skills I learned from the first book to put towards this book. Of course this was in my imaginative mind where I knew how to crochet in my sleep. :-) I still hold out hope of learning and of adding these two books to my slowly growing craft books. :-)

Photobucket

Another skill I always wanted to learn was embroidery. I know the basics of cross stitching and love it and just know embroidery would be a nice thread art for me to learn one day.

Photobucket

This book has patterns in it and iron-ons to stitch out. But be warned, these aren't your grandma's patterns. These are more modern and hip twists on an old craft. Very cool and I believe this was another book that was wishlisted and found in this shop. This shop is like a one stop shop for me. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is one of the shop's biggest sellers. Yesterday when I found it, it was sold out. Today it was restocked and then when I checked a few hours later it was sold out. Talk about popular. It's a birdcage shaped bulletin board of sorts. It's made to hold photos, letters, and whatever else you can pin to it. You get a few clothes pins and attach whatever to the bars. Very cute and very handy.

Photobucket

Ok so I'm a real dork with this next item. This has fascinated me since I first heard of them. Ice shot glasses. Now mind you, I wouldn't be using them for alcohol. I'd be using them for juice and soda. I know, so dorky, but why waste them on alcohol when you can use them on tasty drinks. :-D I so would love to have this ice try. I would be using it all the time. I don't think I'd have any need for regular glasses again. ;-) I kid! I kid! Sort of. :-)

Photobucket

This last one is another wishlisted book. I've slowly been becoming interested in cooking and baking. Well I always liked baking, but more so now since seeing the cool things you can do with some cake batter and icing.

Photobucket

I love this page. Look at all the things you can make in this book. Of course mine would never look as pretty as the staged pictures, but that's good. It'll be original when I do it then. :-)

Photobucket

I know someone who would simply squee over this page. She loves penguins. This is also a cupcake you can make. I know what you must be thinking, "Oh, but that's so hard to do. That book is for professionals.", not so.

Photobucket

This book shows what each piece is made from, and you'd be surprise how the items in the cupcakes are so simple and easy to get. You could have your own penguin in no time flat. You can just make out some of the items that went into the penguin. Fruit chew, vanilla icing. doughnut hole, and marshmallow just to name a few. So these cupcakes are very doable.

And this is just a tiny bit of all the awesome things you can find in the Plasticland shop. It's not your average shop and has a lot of unique items in it. If any of you decide to shop there you have to let me know what you got, I'm nosy. :-D Ok, so you don't really have to tell me, but I'm all ears if you want to squee about your lastest purchase. :-) Well that's all for this post and this shop. A new shop post coming soon. Until then, be good kids.

Will return tomorrow.

So I know I said I had more posts for you today, and I do. It's just gotten late-ish and dark and it's put me in a gloomy I just want to crawl into bed and not think mood. I'll have more posts for you tomorrow then I will catch up on any comments I have. I just got so tired today. Don't know what's wrong with me. Catch you all tomorrow and I hope you all had a lovely Saturday and will have an even better Sunday. Byers for now.

PS- Don't forget to spring your clocks forward tonight. :-)

You are what you eat?

I have been meaning to talk about this for a while now, but just kept forgetting about it. There is an artist by the name of Joy Kampia who crochets mostly food items. She reminds me in a way of Twinkie Chan, but Joy does her art in a slightly different way. She goes more for recreating real times where Twinkie Chan makes those items into wearable items such as scarves and mittens. Both ladies have such cute flare and while I was going to post about Joy I think I will post about both lovely ladies today.

Let's first talk about Joy Kampia.

Now let's talk about Twinkie Chan.

And to get things back on a doll theme, albeit a creepy doll theme, here is a picture I found while surfing the web for something doll related.

Photobucket

Honestly this creeped me out when I saw it. It still kind of does. I wonder how that suit was made and how he got into it. Did they attach the dolls to a fabric suit and then he stepped into it? Did they glue the dolls to a fabric suit he was wearing? Did they sew the dolls to a fabric suit he stepped into? What is it?!? And why did they create this because, and please excuse me for say thing, but that's not art. Ok, so to someone it was art or at least artistic or creative, but it's just plain freaky to me. LOL! But I refuse to be one to keep the creep all to myself, thus I chose to share it with you all and pass the creep on. No need to thank me. You freaked out looks are thanks enough. :-D That's all for this post. Talk to yo lovelies later.
