Happy Halloween!!!

May you have a happy and safe Halloween.

So, just letting you know, I will be disappearing a bit come midnight tonight for NaNoWriMo. I so excited about what I have planned to write this year. I will be around updating on some stuff, but if I don't post in a long while, I am still here, just writing away. :-) Feel free to keep up with me on my writing blog Retro Typin' Gal. I will post there a lot as I work through this crazy month coming up. Until next post, take care everyone. :-)

This is the bedroom with the beautiful bed in the Barbie Fold N Fun House, I built. :-D

Ok, so today I COMPLETELY wasted away. I didn't even exercise. I was suppose to be advertising the doll forum in some places as well as getting my dolls and fabric out for the Christmas donation, but I didn't get ANYTHING done besides watch Christmas videos on YouTube, do a little outlining for my novel, and talk to my friend Robin on the phone. Ahhhhhh!!! Alas, tomorrow is another day. I am off to bed now so I can get up refreshed, but just wanted to pop on to say I am still alive and also to show you this blast from that past. I loved the jingle to this commercial.

Oh, and remember to register for The Toy Box doll and toy forum when you get a chance. I will be working on it tomorrow some, would love to get more people signed up. Come and join in what could be the most chaotic fun you could have a on forum...well potentially it could be that way. We'll never know unless you come and register and bring your friends!!! ;-) Night all.

New forum, NaNoWriMo, and dollies...oh my!

Photobucket

I know! I know! I'm such a bad blog owner as of late. The past few days have been filled with friend drama, family drama, personal drama, and its finally settled out some. SOME! Ugh, still a lot to deal with, but I need to get my game face on and get ready for November first. That date is just glowing in my mind like a neon beer sign. Its exciting to learn about more and more people that will be going through the chaos with me. Nat, I will so need to buddy you and Erica on the Nano site. What are your Nano nicks and I'll buddy you. Would love to give and get support, I am attempting two novels and I am still outlining the first one. I got lazy this month. Ahhh!!! But I work better under pressure anyway. Yeah. *Nervously bites fingernails.*

So in other news, I have been working on a forum for dolls and toys and I thought I would open it on Halloween, but decided against that. I decided to open it now to hopefully get some people to help me beta test it. The forum is call The Toy Box - Doll and Toy Forum. The first 50 members will have instant access to the Marketplace since I will need to test it out. I will also need moderators for the forum as well. I just want some people to go on there and try everything out. There is a chatroom on there that refreshes every 5 seconds. Its pretty cool. It keeps the chat of the last people who used it so you can see what was talked about and respond. I also have an adult section for more mature posting or for those adults who would rather have their convo be for mature eyes only. So please feel free to join the forum and pass the link on to your other doll and toy friends.

Well I guess I need to explain a bit about the forum first. Ok, so I have been looking for a place that I can share about any doll I own be it Barbie to Blythe to a ball-joint doll. Most doll forums have strict rules on what you can share on their forums. That's cool, but I just wanted to share more. I also wanted to allow toys on the forum for those that wanted to share their new toy finds. This is all in beta right now and some things may work and some may not. I will adjust things as they level out. But if you are looking for a place to come chat about dolls and toys of any kind...well not the porno kind, then please stop by and register. A lot of the board is visible without registering, but you can't comment unless you do register. There are some off topic boards along with the Marketplace and Adult Lounge that are not visible to guests. I felt those sections needed to be kept private. The Marketplace and Adult Lounge can only be accessed when rights are given. The first 50 people will get instant access to them, but after that, members will have to go by the access gaining rules, which aren't really that hard to do. So yeah, check out The Toy Box and let me know what you think. Send me plenty of pms, I'm mouse1996 on there. Please so not send anything to member Test, as it was just made for me to test for things like what can guests see whatnot.

And finally onto dollies. So I have this big project I want to take on. I want to sew up baggies and outfits for several dolls for Christmas for the Salvation Army. I have decided to keep it simple and just sew a tube and make a dress out of that for all the doll out of stretch fabric using Dorriebelle's concept for making sock clothing. I have tons of it and don't know what to do with it, so I will use it up on this project. Not sure how many I will make, especially since this November is book solid.

I know I will have a few days in December to work on it, but I don't want to get so behind that I don't complete anything. Still need to pull out all my old dolls and give them a wash and brush. Then I need to figure out my quick pattern for a dress and I plan to make cloth boots that will look more like socks. I picked that method since I don't know if these dolls will go to really young children who might swallow regular shoes. You know, I always wondered why when we are young, swallowing odd things didn't bother us. Hummmm... Anyway, yeah, so I need to hit the ole fabric stash and bring out all the dolls that I plan to use. This will help greatly reduce what I own and give someone a smile. I'm rather excited to do this. :-) Oh yeah, I want to make baggies for each doll as well so the kids and carry them around or use the baggies as purses. I also wanted to make little cards to go on the pull ties that say Merry Christmas from Santa, but I don't know if this is only for Christmas. I believe it is, but I think to be safe I should just say Happy Holidays. What do you all think? Hummm...

Well that's about it for today peeps. I may come back a bit later to post about some stuff I have been working on. I want to work on my outline a lot today since the 31st will be here in now time and I told myself I will be done and ready to go by the 31st. I am sleepy now, but I can sleep tomorrow away. I must outline. I am stuck on chapter 1 of novel 1. Getting nervous here. I am worried this year I won't win. But I would hate to not make it to 50,000. Ahhhh!!! Ok, I am off. Later kiddies.

I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!

Photobucket

Did you miss me? Did you? Did you?! Did you?!? I hope so. ;-)

So what has my sexy self been up to? Not a damn thing. :-D Ok, so maybe not that. Let's see here. I went through my sad moment that kept me from feeling like blogging. Then I was dealing with some stuff with a friend who is trying to get away from her husband...still dealing with that and I am SO torn on what to do. Part of me wants to help her get away and the other part of me wants them to make up for the kids' sake. Its just so confusing with that, and I may post more about that in another post. Right now, this is all about moi. :-D

I've also been outlining for two novels I will be writing next month. So far its going ok, but time is running out and I still outlining novel one and the second one I am still trying to figure out. Ahhhh...I want to be ready to go by October 31st. *sigh* Anyone else joining me in this chaos? Please do, we can cheer each other on. :-)

What else? Oh, I've decided to donate some dolls to chartity. It seems there won't be enough toys to go around this year for the kids. So I am planning on cleaning up some of the dolls I have and sew them a little dress and baggie and send them on their way to the Salvation Army. I hope my little bit can help make a Happy Christmas for someone. But I need to get working on that now. This November is going to be crazy. I still need to find an easy pattern to sew. I want to make it so I can sell them also when I get back to my shop that I need to put on vacation mode for November. With my friend coming back to town, me trying to get back on track with life, writing two novel, doing dolls for chairity, Thanksgiving, my dad getting ready to retire and helping my mom get ready for that...well trying to run a shop just doesn't work for me right now. :-( I only have three things up right now, so that's ok, but I wish I could have sold something. Here is the link, I have put it in vaca mode, but you can see some of what I've been working on up in the banner. The Goodie Bag

I will put it back up after NaNoWriMo is over. Hope I can still get into some of the Christmas action. I would like to be up and open for Black Friday, that weekend, and then Black Monday with a sale on items. Will have to see how things turn out.

Photobucket

Ok, just curious, does anyone think this Hard Rock Cafe Barbie looks a bit like Amy Winehouse?

Photobucket

Ok, that was just nagging me, so I had to mention it. LOL! Ok, is there anything else? Oh, I am going up and down when it comes to my exercise and diet. I was doing good and got to 2 and half weeks of exercising every day, then one day it was cold and I didn't feel like doing it and BAM! no more exercise for 2 days. Need to do it today, but don't want to. Will do it around 10. I will stick to 15 miles a day instead of 15 miles twice a day. That just makes me not want to do it. But I can do 10 miles to quickly now. Ugh! And the diet has been crap lately. Ugh! Ok, enough about that. I need to call my friend in a few so I will close for now. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Happy Monday and Columbus Day

Photobucket

Hey guys. Yup, still up. I think I'm almost ready to go to sleep. Oh yeah, clicky-click on the picture below to learn more about Columbus Day if you are confused about it. :-)

So anyway, what does a gal do when she doesn't want to sleep. Well she watches movies online of course. What movies does she watch? Well two really bad but funny raunchy teen comedies...that will remain nameless, and of course, Barbie and the Three Musketeers. :-D

Ok, so this move was actually really cute. The only off putting thing to me is that the main character is not named Barbie. I don't know. Maybe this pulls into role playing perhaps. I know the name Barbie wasn't back in ye ole times, but still it just made me scratch my head and go "Hummmm...".

But other than that I really liked this movie. It had a strong underlying message of pursuing your dreams even when everyone says its not possible. This is one of the things I love about Barbie movies, they all have a moral to them. I must give it to Mattel. They work hard on their product and keep their market in mind and try to teach them good morals. Loves it.

I don't want to say much about the movie in case anyone wants to watch it. But its the same basic theme to most of Barbie movies, her and her friends join together to save the day. Its an uplifting story if you are having one of those bummer days. So if you or the little one are bummed one day, this movie is sure to please.

I think one of my favorite characters in the movie was the little kitten who so desperately wanted to be a Muscateer. LOL! Very cute.

I know I would have loved this movie as a child since Barbie was such a part of my life and I can imagine these movies put smiles on little girls' faces of today. Worth a watch if you have a little over an hour to spare. Clicky-click on the picture to be taken to the movie page and enjoy.

Ok, gonna read a bit and then think about getting some sleep. I may not blog again today, so I'll say now that I hope you have a lovely Monday and that something marvelous happens to you all today. Hugs and kisses to you all. Bye for now.

Released today at midnight.

Michael Jackson's song "This Is It" can now be heard on his website. It was released at midnight today. Have a listen, its classic Michael. The album will be released later on this month. And it will also be put on vinyl which I thought was so cool.

This Is It

Enjoy.

I'll keep it simple and sweet today.

Ten years ago today I lost one of my best friends. My brother. He passed away due to a heart attack caused by a seizure he had in his sleep. I can't really talk much about that day, but I couldn't let it go by without saying something. I know the day has just started and I still have 23 hours and 30 minutes to deal with it. I doubt I will sleep tonight. And thoughts like "He was still alive right now." and "I wonder around what time he passed away?" and "I can't believe he's been gone ten years." keep running through my mind. Sorry if this is morbid for some of you. Its just what's going on in my head right now. Honestly I just want to cuddle in bed with my boyfriend and watch funny movies today to get my mind off of it, but he's over 700 miles away. :-( So I may just lay in bed and catch up on some soap operas, minus the hour for exercise. I'm sticking to it so far. I made it two weeks every day exercising. I want to make it a habit. So far, so good.

But yeah, I just wanted to pop on and blog a tiny bit since I haven't in a few days. Just all of a sudden I changed and got depressed and just didn't want to blog. I'll be back to daily blogging soon and respond to comments. After today it will get easier. Ok, I'm off. Gonna putz around the pc for a couple of hours and then try to get some sleep in the morning. So tired now, but I don't think I could sleep now. I wish A was here. :-( I really need him now.

I want to be a naughty librarian.

Photobucket

I love this costume. I would love to own it. The skirt is was makes it for me. Oh, I have a librarian in one of my stories. Its a magic related story and I think this skirt would be a perfect inspiration for her outfit. Very cute.

Oh and I was on a roll today. I just finished a short-short story about a mailman. This I may just post online since I don't plan to try to get it published anywhere. Still want to tweak it some, but will hold off on that for a week or so to get a fresh mind about it. Its kind of told in an Edgar Allen Poe voice. Ok, off to exercise now so I can create later. :-)

I finished my novel...

And I feel kind of "blah" about it. I thought I would feel so much more. I mean yesterday I could feel it was coming to an end. And a lot of the things I saw happening in the end didn't for some reason. And I ended it on a cliffhanger, which is about the only thing I knew would happen. I mean I guess its because I know that there is SO much left to do on the story now that the actual plot is coming to me now that I finished it. I know, I know...how can I write a story with no plot? Well it has a plot, but the plot thickened as I neared the end. So now I have to go back in fill it in. Which, what I recently learned, is what all writers have to do. So maybe on my revisions I will get that happy giggly feeling that my story is done. But for now, its about a year's hard work put to temporary rest. I will put it away for a couple of months then come back to it with a fresh mind and attitude. But yeah, that about it. Humm...wait a minute...change everything I just said.

I JUST FINISHED MY NOVEL!!! WOOT!!! WOOT!!! WOOT!!! WOOT!!! *Does Snoopy Dance.*

*Catches breath.* Ok, like literally I just got all excited. Maybe it was a delayed reaction. LOL! I finished it! I'm ready to move on to the next novel. And just, wow. :-D I know there's a lot more to fill in on that story, but for now the bulk of it is out. I've got my notes for when I return to it. And I am ready to move on. Nano, here I come!!!

Its 6:24 am...

Photobucket

And I'm up. But this time I just woke up about 12 minutes ago. Yep, trying to change my pattern. We'll see how well it goes. I am tired, but I usually am at this time no matter if I slept or not. But at least I can stay up all day and not continue to get more tired. :-)

So I plan on writing for a couple of hours, exercise, then craft, then update shop, then work on forum, then hummm...not sure.

The only sucky thing is is that I had to go to bed without speaking to my boyfriend first on the phone. I called him when I crawled into bed and got to speak to him for like 30 seconds because he had a patient on the table but I would have liked to have talked to him more. I hope I will get to today before he takes off for work...when I am usually asleep. LOL!

Ok, going to write now for a while. Hope you all have a great day.

Happy Wednesday and Forum is coming along nicely.

Photobucket

Was thinking of going with a theme for Halloween but decided best to just pick a theme that we will stick with. I found one that I think we will like. I have the chatroom set up, and I am setting up the sections now. I have several already, just trying to think what all I would like to see in a doll forum. If you have any suggestions please feel free to live them in the comments. Oh I decided to make the forum a doll and toy forum. There are two separate sections for both. I don't expect the toy section to be to active but I know people have toys they buy that they'd like to share that don't rank in the doll category and I wanted to make that a small part of our forum.

Gonna work on the market place later. Trying to decide if we should have requirements before you sell on there. I think people should be on the forum a month before sales can be done, but then the marketplace will be empty. Maybe do a thing where the first 20-50 people who register and have good feedback else where can sell to kind of get the part of the forum going and then close it off to other members being able to sell then until they make 50 posts and are on the forums for a month. Choices choices.

But once again I have not slept. I figured out what my problem with that is. Its October. I always have a hard time sleeping in October. Once November hits it should get better. But I think I will try to get some sleep now so I can exercise later. Will keep you up to date on how the forum is going. :-)

Happy Tuesday guys.

Photobucket

Happy Tuesday you lovely lovely people. I hope today reached you well. My day was mostly spent sleeping and exercising. A little bit of eating mixed in. Oh and unraveling a scarf I knitted a long time ago. Man that was hard! The yarn liked to catch on itself and make it almost impossible to unravel, but I managed it. I am going to attempt to make it into a different kind of scarf. Hope to work on it tomorrow.

So nothing much else going on today. Just tired mostly. I want to go exercise some more and I want to write some too. Also I want to work on the doll forum. I guess I could do it all tonight but I am really tired. Upped my exercise to 20 miles today. It felt good but it wears me out. Oh, I also promised my sister I'd play Kingdom Hearts with her on DS. Hum. Guess I will do that. Kind of feeling blah right now. Ok guys, I hope I have more interesting stuff for you tomorrow. Sleep tight or have a nice day...depending on where you are right now. :-)

Can't sleep.

Its almost 7:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. I feel sick and just can't drift off. Its a rainy day and I love the sound of rain as I try to drift off to sleep. Thought I would get on to write a bit and then try to drift off again. Stomach acid was so bad that I panicked a bit over the pain. Sitting up makes it feel better. I want sleep. :-( Gonna try again in a bit. Just want to sit up a while and see if my stomach feels better.

Happy Sunday!!!

Photobucket

Hey guys, I know I'm starting early today, but heck, why not. I just checked some sales fliers for this upcoming week and Hancock Fabrics is having the 99 cent sale on both McCalls and Simplicity this week. Target has marked down some of their Barbie Basic Fashion dolls to 5 dollars. Great time to stock up on some outfits you may have wanted and couldn't get.

Won't be able to see Hobby Lobby's ad until later. Bummer. But I am trying not to spend money this week. I am hoping to start making money actually. I haven't worked on my shop in two days thanks to trying to work on writing. I don't honestly know how I will do both, but the month of November I don't care, I'm gonna write. I'll just have to try to get a sleeping pattern down during NORMAL hours of the day...night, and then use my time wisely. Now I understand what the teachers were trying to say back then.

So I have been working on my the outline for my potential two novels I am going to attempt to write next month. Its about a 9 year old girl, and oddly enough I thought it would be hard to write about a nine year old girl but I find outlining for her to be amazing and fun and I can't wait to get started. I'm still on novel one though. I have to have novel one AND two outlined out by October 31st so I can spend that day in chat for Nano and getting ready for some serious word wars. I'm honestly so excited about this...can you tell? :-D The story is coming along so nicely its just flowing from me. But its hard to get my mind to stop thinking about it so I can concentrate on other things. I need to work on my other novel too. Ugh!!! I think I will go to bed in about 30 minutes...even though I just woke up around 6 hours ago after 8 hours of sleep, and try to get up early in the morning like around 6. That is when I am most productive. Every one is asleep and just me, the birds singing, and the early bloomers who are walking and driving by. Paradise. Of course its a bit dark at that time, so I may not see many walkers but the birds and cars will be there with me. :-)

I really need a schedule so I can schedule time to write, brainstorm, sew, promote, blog, exercise, and chat within the day. Oh yeah, and sleep. LOL! A lot of work, but I am sure I can manage it...somehow. Ok guys, just wanted to pop on real quick and say hi! I know I need to pop by some of your blogs and I promise to get to that. Just spread myself a little thin lately spending all my time on my shop and writing. Later on today is a busy day so I may or may not get to your blogs but I will, I promise. Ok, talk to you all soon. Bye for now and have a great Sunday. :-D

I need sleep!!!

Photobucket

I have not been to bed yet because I got onto the NaNoWriMo website to see what people were doing now before the big event and then I foolish went into their chat. Now I want to chat instead of getting some precious sleep!!! Ahhh!!! And now I realize I will have to write 2 novels to win this thing this year. I need to start planning while I also try to finish my other novel before November 1st AND keep working on my shop. Its live now, just not ready to share the link yet. I want to put a few more things in it. Ok, I am tired. Must sleep. Can chat, blog, write, outline, create more later. Bye all.

I'm such a weirdo.

Photobucket

Because I want this doll.

Photobucket

Its the Fab Girl Barbie doll. Why do I want her?

Photobucket

Well not only do I want her because I love the outfit she is in. Seriously, did you see the metallic grey bodysuit she was in? I loved it! I was picturing flipping it inside out and using it to make a pattern piece. Of course it kind of has the ruffles one unlucky lady got kicked off of Project Runway last night for, but I think these work. But also because she reminds me of the Day To Night Barbie doll I had and LOVED as a child.

Photobucket

I can just image getting her and body swapping her with a Fashionista...of course one of the ones I don't already have and maybe offering up the poor girls I don't want for sale. Hummmm, choices, choices. ;-)

I found out they redid the day to night working Barbie concept again in 1999 when I was just slowly getting back into dolls.

Photobucket

She was called Working Woman Barbie.

Photobucket

I love her outfit, no pink. Just kind of a shocker color mix for Barbie.

But I do love this new doll. It seems she has a color change pink stripe up front and when you pull beads in her hair it changes styles. And her outfit alone makes me want her. So, now I am on the hunt for her. Oh, and can I just say, how macho is the guy who actually agreed to be in a Barbie commerical. If he has young daughters you know he's a celeb in his house. LOL!

Its so weird how about three years ago I lost interest in Barbie collecting but now with the Fashionistas I found an interest in them again. Must be my love of fashion and wanting to sew things for them. Honestly whenever I think of a doll I think of sewing fashions for them more than just collecting them. Its odd. Well I just wanted to share my find with you today. Gonna go back to writing. Want to finish my novel up before NaNoWriMo starts. I think I am close to the end! :-D But still, I don't know what the flipping story is about. Hard to explain, just trust me. Ok, off now. Bye lovelies.

Oops, one more thing.

Photobucket

Happy Friday!!!

Bye. :-)

So weird.

So my mom called me downstairs to look at something and she found where someone had put a picture of my brother's gravestone up on Find A Grave. This for some reason was very bothersome to me. It almost felt like a violation of our privacy and his. Not to mention it made me face what I have been trying to avoid for years now, the realization that he's really gone and not just on an extended vaca somewhere. No, I am not that delusional, but I try not to think about it so I can mentally try to keep going. I haven't been to his grave in years and so I forgot what it looked like and I don't have to think of his body six feet under it. But seeing it on the internet made me cry. I miss him so much and on the 12th he will have been gone 10 years. :-( All these sites are having 10 year anniversaries like LJ and MSN and me and my boyfriend had one too and then I have to end the year with this. Like I mentioned before, the end of the year is kind of hard on us and well the 12th will be really hard on me. I wish I could get into more detail about his death and why it affects me in such a bad way, moreso than the fact that my brother had passed, but I don't think now is the right time. Another time perhaps. I guess I just wanted to vent a bit since it made me feel so sad. I'm better now. I found out there is a famous war hero in his cemetery, Eugene Ashley, Jr. He saved his fallen comrades and didn't think anything of himself. He eventually passed out from his wounds and was carried to safety where they were all attacked and he sadly died. When I'm in a better mental state I think I will check out that site more and see what other famous people I can find in NC. Gonna go work on my shop some more now. I have one item up already. Working on 5-6 more now. Talk to you all later.

This scared me.

Its scary to think that this could happen and we don't know what the end of 2012 will bring. I'm hoping it will just be like the whole Y2K scare, but you just never know. I kind of want to see this movie but it would have to be at home where I could pause it when it gets to much for me. I tend to hold my breath when I am watching something intense. LOL! What do you guys think about the movie and 2012? Scare you or just another Y2K scare?

Finally!!! Oh yeah, and Happy Thursday and Happy October!!!

Photobucket

Ok, so last night I was working on my shop and it deleted my stop policies every time I tried to save them. After the second time I finally got smart and started saving it in Notepad first. But it didn't keep me from getting frustrated. Well today I typed in "Coming soon." and it stayed so I tried putting my policies back in. Wouldn't save!!! Tried a few more times and almost gave up when I decided to take out some of the spaces I had between lines. Saved perfectly. Then I saw I had an error and needed to take it out. I took it out, clicked save, and covered my eyes...seriously. I looked back and it was still there!!! Yes!!! So no today my task is to upload a few things and then get to work on new stuff. I feel so nervous opening a shop, but its something I really want to do. I just wonder how I will do on Artfire.

Here are my thoughts on Artfire. Its new, but closing the gap between Etsy traffic and them. They are still in beta working things out, but I feel once they do work things out that a lot of Etsy people will move over or at least open a second shop there. It honestly reminds me of Myspace and Facebook. Myspace was the big cheese a while back and everyone had an account opened there. Then Facebook opened and it took a while for them to work out their kinks and now its now on level if not more popular than Myspace. I think Artfire will be the same and soon the traffic will come. I'm hoping to be able to go verified by the end of the month. I would like to have the perks of a verified member and perhaps see about becoming a Maven. Right now I just want to work on my shop and get into a flow with it so I won't have to worry about the structure of it and just create and upload it. Ugh! So much work, but if I can start selling stuff then it will be worth it. Right now I just frustrated, but that will pass I'm sure once I get a flow to things.

Ok, so mostly this post was to vent. I'm off to edit some pictures and take a few more before I'm out of daylight. Wish I had morning light to use, but go to bed late and no morning light for you. Oh well. Happy Thursday everyone one, and Happy October!!!
