Hey guys, quick question, I just updated my cross-blog on Livejournal and it always takes me to the blog so I can make sure it posted right, but I am usually off the blog within 30 seconds. Today I heard something play as I clicked off. When I went back I heard the commercial for the Western Barbie commercial I posted about a while back playing. Does it play for you here on Blogger as well? I assume it does if you come directly to my blog instead of reading the post from your friendslist. I had no idea it played, and if it’s bothersome to some of you I will put videos under a cut from now on. Actually would you prefer I make more under cut posts for you? I do it on Livejournal, but thought Blogger peeps wouldn’t mind. But if you would like more post cuts I’d like to know. Just let me know in the comments section, that I will be getting to this week I promise. I want to make the blog as reader friendly as possible. I am thinking of switching to a plainer layout so it’s easier to read as well. Like I said, I only spend about 30 seconds on it to check the post went up right and then I am gone, at least that is how it is for now. You are the ones that hang out on it, so let me know how I can make it a little friendlier for you. Thanks in advance. Bye for now guys.
Happy Halloween to all of your freaks and ghouls out there! I hope you are all playing it safe and having a fun time tonight. I’m doing my usual Halloween thing of spending the night in. It’s raining something horrible out there so I don’t think there were any trick-or-treaters out tonight. My friend even took her kids to the mall because we got hit with one of the coldest and wettest Halloweens in a long time. I remember Halloweens just a few years back where you had to wear short sleeve shirts because it was hot an muggy. Don’t get me wrong, I love the cold, but the wind and rain make it extra brrrrrrr. So I hope you are staying warm tonight if your neck of the woods is unseasonably cold too tonight.
Right now I am currently counting down the hours to the start of Nanorwrimo. I am being a Nano Rebel this year by not writing a novel. I’m going to be finishing up a script for the photostory I’ve been trying to finish for a long time now. I think my time of Nanowrimo is coming to an end. I don’t know if I’ll be doing it next year. I do cherish the crazed writing during November, I just think I want to start making that an everyday thing than just a one month thing, so I don’t know about future Nanos. But this year is my first as a Rebel and I’m kind of excited about it. I don’t want to write a novel just to write a novel and waste time on something I’ll hate, so I will write the script which will hopefully help me write my story and get it done so I can start taking pictures in December and start putting it up next year. Fingers crossed.
As for other things I am doing right now, I’m focusing on my health right now. There are a lot of things I need to get done by the end of the year. I have something I am dreading coming up in 28 days, and I don’t really want to talk about it right now because I’m that nervous about it. It’s really silly to be nervous about it, but when I explain it…on the 28th or 29th of next month, then I’m sure it will be clearer why I dreaded it. I’m working on inventory for my shop. I finally found a place to put my shop. I think that was another problem for me, where to put my shop, but I found a nice place for it to be that a lot of other doll sellers are on so it works. And well, I guess that’s about it right now. So the goals for the end of the month is to work on the immediate health issues at hand, get through that situation I’m dreading at the end of next month, and get the shop open. I know I won’t make the Christmas rush with my shop, but that’s ok, as long as I get it open. Oh, and yes I am still working on emails, comments, etc., etc. etc., you get the point. I’m working on all that. Now that some stress has been taken off of me with my parents health either doing better or being looked at, my mom still worries me some with her heart issues, I’m getting a little more calmer and I can focus better. I’m hoping this next month will be busy and productive for me. I’m ending this year on a good note, no matter what. And NO Michelle, that isn’t jinxing it for you by saying it aloud.
And on that crazy note, I will bring this post to a close. I will talk to you lovelies soon. Be good until then. Bye for now.
So, anybody got $14.98 just sitting around burning a whole in their pocket? Now, those of you who said yes, do any of you want to buy me something cool? Ok, the two of you who said it depends on what it is, would you buy me this awesome giraffe?
Isn’t Grady awesome?!? Well to be “PC” his full name is Grady the Giraffe, and I love him. I mean honestly what’s not to love about it? I mean first of all, he’s a giraffe. Second of all, look at that retro vintage replica fabric he’s made out of. And third of all, did I mention he’s a freaking giraffe?!? I know right?!? Wait? What? You aren’t that impressed with Grady? Color not jazzing with you? No worries. There’s a Grady for everyone! Observe.
Eeyore to overdone for you, but you still want something to help reflect your sad yet colorful emo-ish mood? Then look no farther than this lovely blue gem right here. Isn’t he awsesome? What? Flowers a bit much for your depressed mood? Fine then. I haven’t given up yet.
Perhaps something more sunny for those you who are mourning the loss of your beloved Summer. It’s ok guys, only 6 more months and it will warm up again. You can do it. Come on, you’ve got to be looking forward to the bitter cold and blizzards some parts of the world are bound to have this Winter. Humm, no? *rolls eyes* Ok, give me one more try guys. I’ve got one more trick under my sleeve.
Pink, girlie, cute, and pretty all wrapped into one. What is not to love? I ask you. Honestly? I mean what’s cuter than a guy not afraid to wear pink. He’s awesome, n'est pas? Humm, I’m starting to think that perhaps I’m the only one who loves as Grady as much as I love Grady. I just don’t see why Grady doesn’t have an awesome following. He’s super cute in all the fabric choices, and has a different personality for each one. He’s unique almost like…ummm…hummm….Pokémon! Yeah! And you simply have to collect them all. LOL! Humm, collect them all. Doesn’t sound half bad. Hey the two of you from before who said you’d buy me a Grady for $14.98…could we possible make it all of them for $74.90 plus tax and shipping? Hey, where are you going?!? I still stand behind what I said before, tough crowd.
But seriously guys, I just had to make this post to share the awesomeness of Grady. I think one of the main reasons I like him is because Grady for some reason makes me think of the name Brody, which is one of my dogs’ names. And Grady seems like this silly big loppy animal kind of like our Brody. Brody is big and loveable but also has his kind of silly look and way about him. So I love Grady for that. The vintage looking fabric also helps, I love the look of vintage fabric and vintage replica or vintage themed fabric. So this guy is perfect for me…except for the price. LOL! 15 dollars is a bit to much for me to spend on a stuffed animal, so I will just admire him from afar. Oh and of course add him to my Pinterest for easy viewing of course. LOL.
And now I am off my lovelies. I am going to settle down and watch a movie or two before going to sleep. My sleep pattern is off again sadly, and I need to work on sorting it back out before I am waking up around 5 p.m. again instead of 10 a.m. I’ll worry about it tomorrow night. Tonight it’s movie time. Talk to you later. Be good until then. Bye for now.
So I was cam chatting with my friend last night and she showed me a picture of one of her daughter’s Ken dolls. So what was so special about this guy? Well let me try my best to tell you the story. Sarah correct any of this if I am wrong. So Sarah heard her girls laughing and was wondering what was up, so she walked down the hall towards their rooms and as she got to her youngest’s room a Ken doll landed at her feet. Looking down and seeing what was done to the poor guy she instantly felt sorry for him. Why? Have a look.
So I think I may have found a solution to my matte spray glossiness. Still in the middle of my face-up, but once I am done I will see how my idea works and if it does work I’ll let you in on my secret. It would be nice if I did solve this issue. Fingers crossed tight. Talk to you all later today and I hope to have pictures for you.
Warning, this post will link you to pictures that, while they do have Barbie dolls in them, are so far from work or kid safe you wouldn’t believe it. She is an artist that tells a story through her art. Below is one of her tamer pictures.
Interested to see her “other” stuff? Check it out here, but go at your own risk. Remember, you have been warned. Enjoy.
Hey all, I meant to make today’s post interesting, but I’ve really got nothing really. I’m still not feeling well so I decided to just give you something fun to look at in form of doll photostories on Flickr. Click the links below and enjoy.
Sorry guys, the next post will be more interesting, promise. I just don’t feel good today. The weather is blah also, yes Sarah I agree, and so I’ve decided to just take it easy today. I am looking forward to Spring, I need some color to look at. I don’t mind it being cold but it’s so bleak in the Winter and I need my spirits lifted up. Meh, tomorrow is another day right? Bye for now guys.
Ok, so a lot of us know about some of the dolls out there that just didn’t cut it. Happy Family Midge anyone? But on doing a search for controversial dolls today I found that there were a lot of dolls out there that were pulled from the shelves that I had no idea about. So I’m going to share a few of the dolls with you that were on that list. Feel free to check out the website to see what other dolls were on the list.
I did it!!! And with 22 minutes to spare!!! I didn’t think I would be able to do it. I was over 30k behind on my words and wrote roughly 25k of those today. Oh my God I am so proud of myself of pushing through and doing it. This month through some curveballs at me. Oh, I glutened myself again on accident because I read the label and thought the product was safe but when I felt sick I checked out the product more closely and found it’s produced on machinery that has gluten on it. It’s pay to not research. So I am healing from that, but I forced myself to finish this Nano. I would have been so upset if I didn’t finish this. I have several short stories instead of one long novel, but it’s meant to all meld into a novel. But I know it’s crap and I will toss it, but it helped me speed up my typing time and it helped me learn more about my writing and this is why I do Nano, to learn more about myself and my writing. I’m glad it’s over for another 365 days and I plan to go back to my regular writing and I hope to pick up writing every day as I have learned I get better with practice. So yeah, I wanted to share my awesome win with you guys as well as bid a farewell to the end of November 2010. I learned so much this month about myself and just things in general and I will say while I was sick most of the month I don’t regret a single day of it. Well I’m off now. Typing 25k in one day is exhausting. I will talk to you tomorrow. Oh and don’t forget your rabbits ok. Bye for now.
So I was hunting around the web today looking for the price of Doll Reader, I got a gift certificate to spend at Barnes&Noble and I was thinking of getting a Doll Reader. So I went to the website to get an idea on the price and saw on there front page about Tonner’s new doll named Andy Mills.
Hey guys, I am back with another post. I couldn’t sleep due to tummy issues so I thought I’d try to catch up on some blogs. I stopped over at a blog I’ve just recently started reading and saw she was having a giveaway in her first interview on BlytheLife. So I thought I’d take this mo’ to tell you guys about Melly Kay, her creations, her interview, and her giveaway.
I first learned about Melly Kay through a crafty blog, one of my other fave kind of blogs to read. She was heavy into making miniature clay food. If you click that link you will be take to a picture of clay peaches she made. Just looking at them makes your mouth water at the thought of how good a peach would taste right at this minute. Her clay foods don’t stop there either. If you look at the whole set you will see a wide variety of foods from cakes to breads to even meat.
Around January of this year Melly Kay started customizing Blythe dolls with her unique sense of whimsy. I love what she can do with some hair, pastels, color pencils, paint, and eye chips. She creates a unique look with each doll she customizes.
The girls above are some recent commissions she’s done. Aren’t they beautiful? And each one so unique. I am always in awe of Melly Kay’s work. You can click on any picture to be taken to her interview to learn more about her and her love of Blythe. If you are interested in seeing more of her work check out her Flickr account. If you are interested in reading her main blog check out Cute Stew that is currently undergoing a blog change that is sure to very interesting. Or you can check out her Blythe commissions blog at Melly Kay Customs where you will see plenty of Blythe eye-candy.
Now for something really exciting. Remember the pretty girl at the top of the post? Well, if you go read her interview you can enter a drawing to possibly win one of her latest creations. I was so excited to see that Bellatrix Gamma Ray is up for grabs. I seriously hope I win, but I know whoever gets her will treasure and be envied by all. So head on over to BlytheLife and read Melly Kay’s interview. You’ll get some more incite to who she is and you can enter to win Bellatrix! What’s not to love about the whole thing? Good luck…but not too much luck…I really want her for my own. Ok, talk to you guys later. Be good until next I post. Oh and if you haven’t read the previous post, please do and take my poll. You don’t even have to read the whole post to take the poll. Thanks in advance.
Hey guys, I don’t really have much of a blog for you today. I’ve been busy sleeping, making horrible smelling gluten-free cupcakes and frosting from the package, and making a new shop logo I am actually happy with for once. Now I just need to update some things in my policies, take some pictures, upload descriptions, and I’m in business baby! I hope to have more details on that very soon. But I do have two things for you lovely peeps. First an awesomely done stop motion doll video with my fave cover of Raidohead’s “Creep”. Have a look.
One lonely doll's desperate attempt to be accepted.
Next up is a poll. If you want to just skip the lengthy babble that follows and just vote in the poll, feel free to. It’s pretty self explanatory. All others interested in what I have to say please continue to read. I’ve been hesitating putting this poll up for one reason or another, but I really want to know what you guys think. I have accounts made on both Etsy and Artfire, but I don’t know which to open shop up at. I know Etsy has the traffic and Artfire is SLOWLY up and coming. But either way I’d have to market myself to get any traffic at my shop, so it’s not really a traffic thing for me when it comes to the doll items. But I also want to make human items too. In this case I think the traffic Etsy has would play a big part in me selling those items. I’ve been checking both sites’ page rankings and while Etsy is 100 something Artfire is like 1000 something I believe. Not really good when trying to sell in a big market.
Now my reason for wanting to use Artfire is because listing is free. I’d kind of like to make some money before trying out Etsy. But if the traffic isn’t there then I won’t make money anyway. However, on Etsy to keep being seen you have to constantly relist or just list every day an item or two. I could do the daily listing but I don’t want to do the relisting. That is just to expensive for me in the end. I’m willing to put a few bucks investment into Etsy to try it out. I know my products will stay listed for 4 months and that’s plenty of time to promote and have deals to sell. I just worry if I don’t make any money on what I am trying to sell that my shop will flop, but I guess that’s the risk you take when you attempt this kind of thing. I honestly thought I had everything figured out, but after certain things I’ve read about both places I’m still up in the air. *sigh*
When I think of Etsy and Artfire I see Artfire as being Myspace and Etsy as being Facebook. For those of you who don’t understand, Artfire allows you to make your own shop up and use colors and backgrounds and you can even have a music player with your own music playing on your shop page. You can have pictures of your dog, cat, Aunt Mae in your shop as well on your bio. Now this is just all gaudy to me. Really gaudy and not professional at all, kind of like Myspace that let’s you put up any backgrounds, music, pictures, etc. that you want…one of the reasons I closed mine. Now Etsy on the other hand is all business all the way. Same uniformed look for the most part, allowing you some customization in the forum of a profile picture and banner. Very similar to Facebook. I like the organized look of it and the cleanness of it. I truthfully like everything about Etsy, except a few things.
Your items aren’t listed in search engines, you have to do it yourself from what I read. Now here’s the thing, I don’t tend to use search engines to shop for handmade. I tend to go to Etsy and sometimes Artfire directly and search for items that way. So does SEO really matter in this count? Do a lot of people search through Google for a handmade Blythe dress or fingerless gloves? The way people talk it seems so, but I just don’t feel that’s the case. Artfire does list items in search engines, even for basic accounts, but of course pro accounts get more acknowledgement. Etsy doesn’t do that at all, so it makes me wonder if that would affect my sales.
Another thing that bothers me about Etsy is lack of customer support. I’ve heard it can take days to weeks for you to hear back from Etsy when you have a problem. I don’t like that. I want help when a problem arises, not when it’s convenient to Etsy. I mean you are giving them a cut of your sales so they should be very forthcoming with the help. I’ve even heard cases where you won’t get a response at all. Ummm…how is this good business?
Another thing about Etsy is they are seriously lacking in the sellers tools that Artfire and other sites already have. That doesn’t work for me. I like the things that Artfire has to offer for sellers, but of course that is if you become pro. At this point both sites are even for me on that case, and I did think about becoming pro, but I just don’t like their attitude that if you are basic you are not considered one of the team really, and more of just a moocher. Which makes me like Etsy more on that count again because no matter what, if you sell or buy on there you can participate on everything the site has to offer. It makes for a nicer community to me. So I am on the fence about which to go to. I know I should just do both, which I was thinking do Artfire first and then slowly move to Etsy and then decide. But then again I could just bit the bullet and jump into Etsy feet first and just really promote and work up my shop there. So that is where you come in lovely readers. If you have gotten this far, thankies for reading or just jumping ahead to take my poll.
I like the poll. It’s kind of cute. I may try more interesting polls in the future. But back on topic now. Taking any and all suggestions or stories of experience if you’d like to share. Thankies in advance and I will talk to you all soon. Having a bad tummy day so I want to lay down and ride it out. *sigh* I need to get out of this house and have some fun, maybe that will get me out of my funk. Bye for now peeps, and have a great start to a wonderful week!
Hey ladies and gents, I thought I’d pop on here real quick to let you know I’m still here, still working behind the scenes on something, and while doing that I am also back to playing video games. LOL! I was a big gamer when I was a little younger, and well I guess it’s still there but I try to repress it…says the girl who’s own mother is a bigger gamer than her. Geez. So I am play Saboteur while I wait for my sister to finish her shift at work. She just left for a 2 hour shift at work. She’s working the midnight release of a game I always get on console. I know I mentioned it, but just in case you forget, watch the ad.
Heck yeah!!! The Sims 3 for Console. I’ll be playing on PS3. My sister got a sweet discount at work and I get some perks for my preordering. Eeeeee!!! I paid it off on Friday so I now I must wait for roughly 2 and a half hours to get my little hands on my new precious. So I may not be around for a few days. BUT I will be around on Halloween. I have a post already set for that day, so look forward to that. Also, anyone doing Nanowrimo this year? If so let me know so I can add your as a writing buddy on there. I can’t wait…omg…I never finished my novel outline!!! Omg!!! I was going to work on that today!!! But I was playing Saboteur and…omg!!! Ok, gotta jet. So much to do so little time. I’m planning a get together for Saturday. Not sure about other places, but they’ve recently started having trick-or-treating on Saturday if Halloween falls on a Sunday. So we want to watch scary movies and give out candy. Do I plan to dress up? Yep. As what? Myself…dressed up. Lame I know, but I’m looking forward to it. Ok, jetting, now, bye kids.
That is what my email inbox is now currently using. It has 4 little emails in it that I have already read and just wanted to hold on to for now. But in truth I could just delete them and be completely empty, but nah, I’ll keep them. So nice to finally be caught up on email. I won’t let it will try not to let it get that way again. Same goes for my comments. So much nicer to be on top of things now. Now if I can get my bookmarks in a nice order so I can find all the links I want to go to every day I will be on top of the world! So I am going to attempt the bookmarks today. Ugh! wish me luck. :-)
Hey guys and gals, I am still in the process of checking my email, and one of the emails I get is from Etsy. Well in the one email I just opened it had a link to a very unique item of jewelry.
Looks like fancy bangles right? Look again. They are teacups. Teacups that have been formed into bangles/bracelets. Abigail MaryRose Clark of Stay Gold MaryRose on Etsy forms your regular teacup into a wearable form of art. You can either purchase one she has already made or send in your teacup to her and she will make it into a bracelet. It’s kind of cool, but also kind of odd. I know I could never own one of them. I’d break it in a heartbeat. I’m one of those buffalos in a china store kind of gals. I do wonder what kind of woman is delicate enough and has the kind of life that they can wear something so fine around their wrist. This isn’t trying to insult anyone, just really curious. I couldn’t do. That sucker would break in no time. Unless something is put on it to make it strong, but it doesn’t look like it. Hummm. Click on the picture if you’d like to be taken to the sale page. Well I just wanted to share that with you. Back to my email. It worked itself up from 26 to 246. It’s gonna take a while. :-)
I’m all caught up on comments!!! Yes!!! I’m so happy I could dance!!! You know what…I think I will…with Kevin Kline. *evil side grin* Warning: For those of you who haven't seen the movie and dirty word or two is in this video and so is a dirty gesture or two. Just in case you didn't know. Enjoy. :-)
There, now I feel even better. :-) Now I’m off to attack those emails I owe. Then I will be working on bookmarks for a while. The bookmarks are the worst part. *nibbles fingernails* If you don’t hear from me in a couple of days send reinforcements!!! The bookmarks tumbled over on top of me!!!
Loves ya,
Mouse
One blog finished on comment responses and one more to go. I got a lot of great responses and advice and wish I had responded sooner to them. So Livejournal comments on done finally. Now Blogger comments. I wonder how many there will be on there? Only one way to find out.
And a slight update on my tummy and health, I have gotten some great advice on to really look into the corn allergy thing. It isn’t just corn itself, it’s cornstarch, cornmeal, corn syrup. This will severely limit what I can eat and that is why I am dragging my heels on testing it out. But I think I will try it out. It’s just that today and yesterday I had M&Ms because it was candy I could have that I knew didn’t have gluten. But after eating it I got so sick both yesterday and today. And I did have a reaction of some sort. :-( I don’t know what I will do if I do have an allergy to corn. I guess just deal with it and avoid corn. That’s all I can do. I couldn’t cross a street today because my stomach hurt so bad. So I really think I need to leave corn alone. Yesterday, before I ate the candy, I was terrific. No sooner I ate the candy I started feeling bad. But I just thought it was the acid. Now I’m not so sure. Guess I need to research about that.
I wonder if I need to get rid of all grains from my diet? So much to think about. Just gotta take it one day at a time I suppose. Ok. gonna hit Blogger comments and then email and then I think am done working on my list for today. Started working on my bookmarks last night so I can finally start hitting the blogs I am following and comment on them. I have so many bookmarked I need to clean up and so I can pull out the ones I want to visit. So umm, is it bad that I have over 4 thousand bookmarks? Don’t judge me!!! LOL! Ok, comments and emails, bye for now.
So I didn’t want to not make a comment about today’s holidays, so I popped on for a quick post.
First of all, I’d like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to any Canadian readers out there. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October since 1959, and it was set in place to celebrate and give thanks at the end of the harvest season. Though the day is set for Monday it is not uncommon for people to celebrate it on the Sunday before or any time during the weekend. This is the official close of summer where people tend to pull in patio furniture, close up cottages, pull in boats, and get ready for the cold weather. I had always wondered about Canadian Thanksgiving, it was very interesting to read. I hope all my Canadian readers fill up on good food and have good fun with family and friends.
Also to my American readers I wanted to wish a Happy Columbus Day, Día de la Raza, Día de las Culturas, Discovery Day, Día de la Hispanidad, Fiesta Nacional, and Día de las Américas. Whew, I think that covers everyone. ;-) For those of you who don’t know, this is the day Columbus first landed in America, the Bahamas to be exact, on Oct. 12, 1492. In 1971 it was decided that we’d celebrate this on the second Monday of October, which happens to be the same day as Thanksgiving in Canada. Pretty cool huh? I hope everyone enjoys their day off or just the holiday in general. :-)
As for me, I’m still doing ok. Past two days have been kind of up and down for me. I’ll be explaining more tomorrow in my post, I just need to try to word it so it won’t be to long or wordy. But yeah, that’s about it. Just wanted to wish a Happy Holiday to anyone who was celebrating. I don’t plan on doing much today besides taking it easy and working on tomorrow’s post. Talk to you all then. Be good and bye for now.
So as you all know, I loved the soap As the World Turns, and it recently ended on September 17th…most bittersweet day ever. Anyway, the final script was signed by those who acted in the last show and was put up for auction on Ebay. The script ended up selling for 1,725 dollars for The American Red Cross. So amazing. I would have LOVED to have owned that script. I am honestly jealous of the person or organization that owns it. But it’s so awesome that something, in my mind, that was so sad (the final script for the show I loved) brought in something so positive (money that will help so many people). It made me smile today and thought I’d tell you guys about it. You seldom hear of good things happening out in the world so to hear this was nice.
I’ve got a big post I am working on to update you guys on the previous post but I doubt it will be up today. I’ll post as soon as I can, just need some time to test my theory and then I’ll let you guys know. Until then, bye for now.
