Let's go shopping.

So with the economy as it is, shopping until you drop is completely out of the question. But I figure as long as we look and only seldom touch, what's the harm? :-) So I wanted to start a weekly spot on my blog to mention some shops I find interesting. Now please note that most of these stores I HAVE NOT shopped at, but I find their products interesting. Please, as always, shop carefully if you totally fall in love with the stores I will be sharing with you. There are so many shops out there that just have the neatest stuff and I thought I'd share them with you. This list will not only be limited to corporation stores, I plan to share a lot of handmade shops as well, so don't be surprised if your shop shows up here one day soon. :-) With that said, let's move on to this week's shop.

Plasticland

The other day I started looking around for examples of mod clothing, my new obsession. Well in my search I found myself on Plasticland. They clam to sell Retro Clothing, Mod Clothes, Shoes, and Handbags. But of course the sell lots lots more. Now from what I see they don't sell actual vintage clothing but replicas of vintage clothing or clothing made with a vintage feel, which is almost as good as the original to me. The items on the website had me drooling for well over an hour. Some were gorgeous, some where pretty, some were cute, and some were down right funny, but all of them were neat and are not coveted. :-) I want to share some of my favorites with you. All images are from the website and do not belong to me. Please click on the pictures to be taken to the item sale page.

The first item I saw on the shop's site was this cake carrier. I was in love. It kind of reminded me of the one we had a kid. It was plastic but the handles still attached on top like this metal one.

Photobucket

As you can see the outside is decorated like a cake and has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid. So very cute. I think it's such a festive way to carry your cake in. Now I know most people don't carry handmade cakes around or just get one at Wally World and leave it in the plastic casing, but I honestly would use this carrier because I prefer baking cakes and buying them. I may be one of the few out there that do, but this would so be my kind of thing to purchase.

Photobucket

Now of course not all cakes are round and what about all the cupcakes you bake. Plasticland has you covered, literally. This square cupcake carrier is perfect for those longer cakes or the tons of pretty cupcakes we will all be making this Easter or for all the cookouts we will be attending.

Photobucket

It still has the words "Everything Is Better With Cake and Frosting" written across the top of the lid, and has enough room for a full dozen cupcakes. Once again I feel I am one of the few that would actually use this, but it's something I would so have in my kitchen ready to tote some yum-yums across town in the blink of an eye.

The next cool thing I want to talk about is this. Isn't it cool?!? What? You don't know exactly what it is? Don't feel bad, neither did I at first. Then I looked at the other pictures in the product description.

Photobucket

It's a gun condiment dispenser! What? You aren't as excited as I am about it? Oh come on, it's so cool. You fill up the separate little bottles and then put the one you want to use in the gun the shoot. It is completely a novelty item and not really something one would use all the time, but at a cookout or old western themed party this puppy would be a hit. :-) Still not convinced? *sigh* Moving on. :-)

Photobucket

Now this next item I thought was too cool. When I first looked at it I was like "Huh?", but then I "thought outside of the box" and quickly caught on. It's a doormat that greets your guests with a "Hello" when they walk into your house and a "Goodbye" when they leave your house. I thought that was pretty darn nifty. Ok, maybe a bit silly, but nifty none the less. :-D

Photobucket

Now these next two items are only a skimming of what the shop has to offer. Yes, these are socks. Cool socks. I honestly want one of each pair of socks on the site. This first pair is made to look like lolita lace up boots. Pink, girly, lolita...I'm so there. Loves it.

Photobucket

This next pair just caught my attention. I love Russian Nesting Dolls, and when I saw these socks I thought they were cool. But it took a second look to see what was on the inner calf side of the sock. Skeleton!!! LOL! The dolls are Love/Hate Matryoshka Russian Nesting Dolls. Very cool. Of course I don't know what you could wear these with, but these socks are made to be noticed so I'd have to figure something out. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is neat. Ok, so they all are. But just take a look at. It's a green umbrella!!! Aww come on, how often do you see a green umbrella?!? Still not sold huh? Hummm, well, what if it wasn't just a green umbrella? What if it was...

Photobucket

a leaf umbrella?!? Ok, yes, I'm a dork, but come on it's cool! I would so sport that on the many rainy days we have during the Spring and Summer. Just wish the bulk of them didn't have thunder and lightening mixed with them. Oh well. Still a cool umbrella to carry around with you. Humm, how weird would I look having it open on sunny days? Hey those uv rays are no joke, just protecting my skin is all. ;-)

So, as you could probably tell after the socks, this shop has clothing. Sorry boys, it's only female clothing, but it's still cute to look at and you may find something for the lady. So while looking through other items in the shop I found this skirt. It's solid black up except for an red anchor in the corner and red lace at the bottom.

Photobucket

The anchor detail is really cute. It matches the lace at the bottom. The skirt kind of makes me think of the 50s bombshells/pin up girls for some reason.

Photobucket

The back is what really interested me. I love the lacing detail in the back. I'm sure it's decorative and not functional, but it's still really neat. I don't think is for girls that have "issues" since it seems to be form fitting and from fabric that is not forgiving. So it would have to be left for the bombshells out there, but it's still nice to look at and wish I could wear it. ;-)

Ever since I learned how to do basic knitting I have wanted to learn how to crochet. I just think I would have more fun with crochet but it just seems so tricky to me when I try to learn it where knitting just seems to come easier for me. But when I saw the cute things and animals you could make with crochet it had me hooked more. I would love to make cute things from just yarn and a hook, but alas, my crochet skills are still in heavy development. I saw this book on Amazon and put it on a wishlist and forgot about it. Then I found it in this shop and it made me yearn to learn again.

Photobucket

Another book I saw on Amazon and wishlisted was this book. I thought it would be cool to take the skills I learned from the first book to put towards this book. Of course this was in my imaginative mind where I knew how to crochet in my sleep. :-) I still hold out hope of learning and of adding these two books to my slowly growing craft books. :-)

Photobucket

Another skill I always wanted to learn was embroidery. I know the basics of cross stitching and love it and just know embroidery would be a nice thread art for me to learn one day.

Photobucket

This book has patterns in it and iron-ons to stitch out. But be warned, these aren't your grandma's patterns. These are more modern and hip twists on an old craft. Very cool and I believe this was another book that was wishlisted and found in this shop. This shop is like a one stop shop for me. :-)

Photobucket

This next item is one of the shop's biggest sellers. Yesterday when I found it, it was sold out. Today it was restocked and then when I checked a few hours later it was sold out. Talk about popular. It's a birdcage shaped bulletin board of sorts. It's made to hold photos, letters, and whatever else you can pin to it. You get a few clothes pins and attach whatever to the bars. Very cute and very handy.

Photobucket

Ok so I'm a real dork with this next item. This has fascinated me since I first heard of them. Ice shot glasses. Now mind you, I wouldn't be using them for alcohol. I'd be using them for juice and soda. I know, so dorky, but why waste them on alcohol when you can use them on tasty drinks. :-D I so would love to have this ice try. I would be using it all the time. I don't think I'd have any need for regular glasses again. ;-) I kid! I kid! Sort of. :-)

Photobucket

This last one is another wishlisted book. I've slowly been becoming interested in cooking and baking. Well I always liked baking, but more so now since seeing the cool things you can do with some cake batter and icing.

Photobucket

I love this page. Look at all the things you can make in this book. Of course mine would never look as pretty as the staged pictures, but that's good. It'll be original when I do it then. :-)

Photobucket

I know someone who would simply squee over this page. She loves penguins. This is also a cupcake you can make. I know what you must be thinking, "Oh, but that's so hard to do. That book is for professionals.", not so.

Photobucket

This book shows what each piece is made from, and you'd be surprise how the items in the cupcakes are so simple and easy to get. You could have your own penguin in no time flat. You can just make out some of the items that went into the penguin. Fruit chew, vanilla icing. doughnut hole, and marshmallow just to name a few. So these cupcakes are very doable.

And this is just a tiny bit of all the awesome things you can find in the Plasticland shop. It's not your average shop and has a lot of unique items in it. If any of you decide to shop there you have to let me know what you got, I'm nosy. :-D Ok, so you don't really have to tell me, but I'm all ears if you want to squee about your lastest purchase. :-) Well that's all for this post and this shop. A new shop post coming soon. Until then, be good kids.

Loves ya,
Mouse
